Less coverage of breaking news topics?

I feel like in years past, every time something “big” happened, I could expect The Daily to cover it within a couple days.

But seems like for at least the last few months, maybe longer, every time I check for a topic that I’d have expected them to cover in the past, there’s either no episode or it comes out a week or more later.

The perplexing part to me is the episodes they post instead—while typically still important and often timely stories—are rarely something that couldn’t have been bumped…

I know a lot of this is subjective, but after 5+ years of getting most of my important topic breakdowns from this pod, I feel like there’s been a change.

Has there been a shift? Or am I going crazy and the daily never been focused on the headline stories?

Affordable basic women's haircuts in Midtown East?

Looking for stylist/salon recs for simple cuts/trims, ideally ones that don't push products or try to upsell you. I have thin/straight hair and don't get any layers/angles/color/etc, so would rather not be paying $100+ for each quick trim...tbh with be totally cool with Supercuts but I don't think there are any in NYC anymore lol

Bonus points for places with good hours that you can book online!

Places to donate professional clothing that will go directly to those in need?

Dress for Success seems like exactly what I'm looking for, but you need to make an hour-long appointment to donate and those are only offered Wednesdays 10am-4pm...

Has anyone donated to DFS? What was the appointment/experience like? I know they're selective about what they accept (which I really appreciate), but wondering how picky they were and if you have to shlep back anything they reject? I can't find many specifics on their site other than "gently used, nearly-new professional attire."

Lastly, if I can't make any of their appointment times, does anyone have recs for similar alternatives (ideally in midtown or east side) specifically for women's professional attire?

Recs for small out-of-state moves?

Anyone move stuff (especially small moves) from DC to NYC or vice versa have any recs for moving companies or let me know what you were quoted?

I've found a lot of posts for full apartment moves, but in my case it's just about 20 boxes (mostly small & medium, but all are pretty heavy), and potentially 1-2 small pieces of furniture. Additionally, pick up is from 2 separate locations in NYC.

For a few reasons, I'd ideally like to use professional (or reasonably professional lol) movers rather than POD shipping or a Craig's List man-in-a-van type deal. I put in for a couple of quotes from NYC and DC-based, and they're all over the place. I know I can use the different quotes to negotiate, but just wondering ballpark what people have paid for similar moves, and if you have any specific recs!

Nonfiction audiobooks suitable for divided attention?

Looking for an engaging audiobook to get me through packing my house. Some of my favorite nonfiction genres include investigate journalism, spy thrillers, true crime, history, politics... but really open to anything!

Not sure if this exists, but I'm specifically looking for a book that doesn't take a ton of concentration... A lot of the books I'm excited about right now are complex stories with fascinating interwoven events and dozens of characters. Given my attention issues, I consider these "plane books" (i.e., I'm doing nothing but listening lol).

While packing certainly doesn't take intense concentration, I'm hoping to find something that if I get distracted for a minute here or there, I don't lose the whole plot and have to rewind the whole chapter. So thinking something like a limited number of characters, relatively straightforward story arcs, etc.

Extreme bonus points if it's a page-turner that keeps me engaged to the point where I don't want to do anything but listen and pack!!

Ultrathin foldable chairs?

My tiny apartment white whale is some ultra-thin/compact folding chairs that disappear into a closet between guests.

After months of looking, I eventually settled on a pack of high quality folding chairs that nest into one another when folded and stacked. But they're >2" wide each even when nested, quite heavy, and I can only fit a few.

Has anyone found a solution, ideally closer to 1"? Closest I've found are those cool 0.8" wood ones that variously go on Esty for $400+ each and are probably super uncomfortable, but I'm running out of options!!

No online check in/out?

For the last 6 weeks or so, I haven’t been receiving the automated online check-in/check-out emails (not in junk mail!), and likewise the option to check in/out on the app has not been appearing on my app. Can’t recall that ever being the case before early April but it has been consistent since.

Not sure if related or just a new glitch, but my current stay also isn’t showing under “Stays” on the app. (It was there when I checked in, but later disappeared and now when I click Stays it just says “Have an existing reservation? View your upcoming stay details at…”

Tried logging in/out of app, etc. but hasn’t resolved.

Not a huge deal, but wondering if anyone has had a similar issues and has found a solution?
