Question on Obedience to Parents
Assalamualaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatu,
I don't want to delve to deep into personal matters but I will keep it brief.
One of my parents want me to work in a particular field, but I have my own interests in mind for the career I want to work in. I understand they do this for the benefit of my future and all so I try to be gentle even when things get shaky when speaking about the topic to them. I understand obedience to the parents has certain limits such as things that don't necessarily benefit them or they ask me to do something haram that you don't have to obey. I try to be dutiful in other things when it benefits them but I feel bad when they get upset or angry that I am ignoring them or being rebellious in this particular matter. I try to explain to them and be cordial but it always ends in a bad way and my relationship with them is not ideal at the moment despite being dutiful in other areas.
I'm wondering if it's better for my akhirah to listen to them here if it'll make them happy. I don't really mind doing the job they want me to do to be honest if their is a benefit for my akhirah. The work is permissible. Their would be a minor setback but I am relatively early in my career so it's fine with me.
Also would the same apply to other things like marriage? If my parents want me to marry a particular person that I wasn't keen on, but decided to please them anyway fisabilillah. Am I rewarded for it?
I would love your advice on what would be the best option to take insha Allah.
Barakallahu feek.

youtu.beQuestion about Non-Defense Jobs in the Space Industry
Hello everyone. I just had a quick question for those in the space industry, specifically around satellites. I'm someone who is interested in flight software development and come from a comp sci. background.
However I learned that a majority of space companies in the U.S. take contracts from the DoD. I was wondering to what extent does my work overlap with defense projects, even though I'm not directly involved in them? I also imagine the commercial side and defense side aren't as siloed since these companies are often startups, thus wearing many hats? Sorry if I come off as naive. Thank You.

youtube.comComp Sci grad interested in aerospace roles.
Hi everyone,
I'm a computer science graduate from the U.S. who is interested in breaking into the aerospace industry. I was particularly interested in roles that deal with the vehicle itself and not general software positions like web development for example. I did my research on this sub and I came across roles like GNC, flight software engineering, avionics software engineering. I learned about these roles and they seemed to be what I was looking to get into, more so on the commercial aviation/space side rather than defense.
Anyway, I had few questions I wanted to ask. Since I don't come from an AE or ME background am I at a disadvantage, and if so, how can I compete? Along with this, my comp sci program wasn't math or physics heavy so I wanted to know what exactly I should brush up on or learn. Lastly, are their other positions that a comp sci person can get into other than the ones I listed above? Which of these roles are more niche and which are more common typically? Lastly, how has AI impacted this sector and could these jobs be automated out?
Thank you for your time.
