Status of Sunnah of the Messenger صلى اللّٰه عليه وسلم
I have observed a lot of posts disregarding the sunnah as a whole or partially, either as a valid source in our religion, or doubting the methods of authenticity and so on. So I want to share some ayat from the Quran mentioning the status and importance of sunnah and following it. I will be proving reference and translation
Sunnah is a revelation
Surah Najm ayah 3-4
"Nor does he speak of (his own) desire. (3) It is only an Inspiration that is inspired."
Allah commanded us to obey and follow His Messenger صلى الله عليه وسلم
Surah Ale Imran ayah 132
"And obey Allah and the Messenger (Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) that you may obtain mercy."
Also in Surah Ale Imran ayah 31-32
"Say (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم to mankind): "If you (really) love Allah then follow me (i.e. accept Islamic Monotheism, follow the Quran and the Sunnah), Allah will love you and forgive you of your sins. And Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful." Say (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم): "Obey Allah and the Messenger (Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم)." But if they turn away, then Allah does not like the disbelievers. "
A side benefit: Many scholars call this ayah(31) as the ayah of test(آية الامتحان) because if one claims to love Allah then it is incumbent that he shows his obedience to the His Messenger صلى الله عليه وسلم. So if one claims that obedience to the Messenger was only in his lifetime then how can we prove our love for Allah without following His Messenger. This also shows that some parts of the Qur'an is not applicable till the end of time.
Surah Nisa ayah 59
"O you who believe! Obey Allah and obey the Messenger (Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم), and those of you (Muslims) who are in authority. (And) if you differ in anything amongst yourselves, refer it to Allah and His Messenger (صلى الله عليه وسلم), if you believe in Allah and in the Last Day. That is better and more suitable for final determination. (59)"
So the obedience of Allah and His Messenger صلى الله عليه وسلم is absolute unlike the obedience to people in authority. And in case of dispute we are to return to Allah and His Messenger صلى الله عليه وسلم. This is also an argument against the claim previously mentioned.
Sunnah explains the Quran
Surah Nahl Ayah 64
"And We have not sent down the Book (the Quran) to you (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم), except that you may explain clearly unto them those things in which they differ, and (as) a guidance and a mercy for a folk who believe. "
So one of the tasks of the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم was to explain the Quran. If they claim that Quran is easy to understand(which is true in core of the religion and its message but not in particulars), then there was no need for the Prophet to be sent to explain it to them, since Qur'an was revealed in their own language.
Some additional points
Allah command us to not go against the Prophet and his companions. Going against them is a path to hellfire. As Allah says in Surah Nisa ayah 115
"And whoever contradicts and opposes the Messenger (Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) after the right path has been shown clearly to him, and follows other than the believers' way. We shall keep him in the path he has chosen, and burn him in Hell - what an evil destination. (115) "
It is well known and mass transmitted that the companions of the Prophet used his traditions, his sayings, actions, approval as proofs in our religion, apart from Qur'an and even used those to understand ayaat of Qur'an. They were the first of believers of this ummah, so going against their way is path to destruction and hellfire.
Secondly,
For the Qur'an to be preserved, its meaning has to be preserved. So the arabic language at the time of the revelation of the Quran has to be preserved. If language can be preserved, so can ahadith of the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم
Thirdly,
It is impossible to understand all of the meaning of Qur'an just by Qur'an and arabic langauge. A very famous example is the ayah in Surah An'am
"الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَلَمْ يَلْبِسُوا إِيمَانَهُم بِظُلْمٍ"
A common person who does not know sunnah, cannot tell what is intended by the word ظُلْم in this ayah. Even the sahaba misunderstood the ayah in the first place(even though it was revealed in their langauge) then went to the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم to consult as recorded in Sahih Al-Bukhari 6918. Those who know arabic language and balagha would understand why the sahaba first misunderstand(hint: a negation followed by an indefinite).
May Allah keep us steadfast on the straight path and grant us tawfeeq to follow the Messenger صلى الله عليه وسلم and his companions رضي الله عنهم
Rabaa Massacre
Rabaa Massacre
It's been 13 years (14th August 2013) since Egyptian security forces killed over 1,000 people protesting against removal of elected President Mohammed Morsi at Cairo’s Rabaa Square.
The massacre took place outside the Rabaa al-Adawiya Mosque in Cairo where members of the Muslim Brotherhood and Egyptian opposition had been protesting for 47 days after Morsi was overthrown by the military led by Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.
No one has ever been brought to trial and the Egyptian government has yet to transparently investigate the massacre.

The Fragrance of Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم
The Fragrance of Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم
Narrated Abu Juhaifa:
.. (After the prayer), the people got up and held the hands of the Prophet and passed them on their faces. I also took his hand and kept it on my face and noticed that it was colder than ice, and its smell was nicer than musk. Reference : Sahih al-Bukhari 3553
Anas b. Malik reported that
Allah’s Apostle (ﷺ) used to come to our house and there was perspiration upon his body. My mother brought a bottle and began to pour the sweat in that. When Allah’s Apostle (ﷺ) got up he said:
Umm Sulaim, what is this that you are doing? Thereupon she said: That is your sweat which we mix in our perfume and it becomes the most fragrant perfume. Reference : Sahih Muslim 5761
Anas bin Maalik Radiyallahu ‘Anhu says:
“I remained in the service (of Rasulullah Sallallahu ‘Alayhi Wasallam for ten years. He never once told me ‘Oof’. When I did something, he never asked me, why did you do so? When I did not do a certain task, he never asked me why I did not do it. Rasulullah Sallallahu ‘Alayhi Wasallam had the best character among all people. (and also possessed the most excellent features, so much so,) that I never felt a silk cloth, nor pure silk, nor any other thing softer than the palm of Rasulullah Sallallahu ‘Alayhi Wasallam. Nor did I smell any musk or any other fragrance, more sweet smelling than the sweat of Rasulullah Sallallahu ‘Alayhi Wasallam”. Shumail Tirmidhi : Book 48, Hadith 345

It is narrated by Abu Yala and al Bazzar with an authentic chain from Anas may Allah be pleased with him When the Messenger of Allah peace be upon him passed by one of the roads of Medina, (people will smell) the smell of musk from it: they would say, the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, passed by this road.
(Fath al Bari 6/663, the chain is also authenticated by al Ayni in Umdatul Qari 16/108, and Nawab Siddique Hassan Khan in السراج الوهاج في كشف مطالب مسلم بن الحجاج شرح مختصر صحيح مسلم 6/311)
Al Ayni said:
The scholars said: This good smell was characteristic of Prophet Peace be upon him, even if he did not touch the perfume, and despite this (his own fragrance), he used perfume many times to exaggerate the goodness of his smell to meet angels, take the noble revelation, and to sit with Muslims. “You can be non-hijabi and a good Muslima” debunked with 2 Hadiths.
Ibn Umar reported: The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Verily, modesty and faith come together. If one of the two is missing, so is the other.”

ofc, there is a possibility that someone is a revert, 1 day ago, or a woman and it is her last day without hijab, and regrets it in the heart, but we judge on what’s apparent and someone’s current actions.
these are just very good hadiths to know to help increase our iman, buuuuuut… and also to refute “moderate muslims” arguments.
also mini-rant, how all these compassionate imams that “care soo much to increase people’s iman” always reminding about doing dhikr, reading Qur’an, being nice, don’t think you’re better than others, but skip out on this super important part of Islam, so important that this is the character of ISLAM itself (among other important topics too).
lastly, i believe the actual word in the hadith is “haya”, if i recall right haya means more than just modesty, it’s like a type of shyness and the root word comes from life or something. if there’s anyone who wants to share info on the word haya plz do or share a vid on the topic (from a credible, non-watering-down sheikh, in english) bc i want to learn more about this important part of our religion.
44 Muslims have been killed in India since the start of 2026
44 Muslims have been killed in India since the start of 2026!
At least 44 Muslims were killed in India during the first seven months of 2026, including 19 deaths attributed to state actors and 25 to Hindutva extremist non-state assailants, according to figures cited by the South Asia Justice Campaign (SAJC)’s India Persecution Tracker.
2026 is the deadliest year for such killings since the organisation began tracking them in 2022. Between May and July, “25 Muslims were killed, including 15 by police and security personnel and at least 10 by Hindu extremist actors in religiously motivated attacks across five Indian states,” the report said.

haddadiya.comFugitive Syrian Dictator bashar Sentenced to Death
Alhamdulliah, a Syrian criminal court in Damascus has sentenced dictator Bashar al-Assad to death in absentia after finding him guilty of premeditated murder, torture and crimes against humanity committed during Syria’s nearly 14-year war. His brother, Maher al-Assad, and cousin Atef Najib were also sentenced to death.
The landmark verdict marks the first major domestic conviction of Assad or members of his inner circle since his regime was toppled in December 2024. Assad, who fled Syria following the fall of his government, is currently living in exile in Russia. The court also convicted the defendants over abuses including killings, torture and arbitrary arrests carried out during the regime’s crackdown on Syrians.
Atef Najib, a former political security chief in Daraa and a key figure in the early crackdown on the 2011 uprising, was the only one of the three to appear in court. His actions against protesters in Daraa are widely associated with the events that helped ignite Syria’s uprising and subsequent civil war.
The ruling is being seen as a significant step in Syria’s efforts toward transitional justice and accountability for crimes committed under the former Assad regime, although questions remain over whether the death sentences can be enforced against those who remain outside Syria.

Addressing some common criticisms of the mubaahalah.
There are some common criticisms of this mubaahalah that should be addressed.
A- First, to prove that mubaahalah is from the sunnah.
1- ibn abas called for it over surah al-talaq
2- ibn hajar called for it over a man supporting ibn arabi.
B- Mohammed shams is the one who was using the sheikh's refusal to make the mabaahalah as evidence to his opinions being correct, and he demanded that the wives be included, and claimed he talked to his wife and she accepted.
He had to be dissuaded from including his children from this, he (shams) wanted the children to be included.
C- saying that mubaahalah shouldn't not be made about people, etc.
The mubaahalah between ibn hajar and a supporter of ibn arabi over ibn arabi's heresy disproves that.
I add that, in many sheikhs view the greater issue was that scholars consensus was being attacked. the consensus of abu hanifh and al nawwai being imams, and thus it's an attack on every scholar who lauded the imams abu hanifa and al nawwai. This not an issue of mere people, it's an attack on the judgment of every scholar who respected these imams.
To allow ibn shams to freely slander our imams is unacceptable. And the mubaahalah was a righteous defense of scholars consensus.
And Allah knows best

Embracing Islam and the Brotherhood I Found
When I embraced Islam many years ago, alhamdulillah, I was convinced that Islam was the truth. Brothers I met welcomed me, taught me, and cared for me. This brotherhood they showed has had an effect upon me.
Seeking Knowledge and Calling Others to Islam
I sought knowledge and learned from many learned people through lectures, books, and studying under them. I also called others to Islam, alhamdulillah. Allah opened the hearts of some of them to Islam, and He opened the hearts of family members to see the beauty of Islam.
Ignorance, Arrogance, and the Mubaahalah
It is therefore quite disturbing to see misguided Muslims, through their ignorance and arrogance, invoke Allah's punishment upon themselves. However, da'wah has to continue, and lies need to be dispelled. I've put forward the clarifications of scholars of Ahlus-Sunnah regarding imam Abu Haneefah, imam as-Suyooti, imam an-Nawawi, and al-Haafidh ibn Hajar, both in our subreddit and elsewhere. However, abul_miswar_zayd openly admitted:
>"Allaah is my witness that I haven't read this post of cn3m. Not even most of it. Not even a small bit of it."
By accepting the mubaahalah, they knowingly invoked upon themselves the punishment they had stipulated.
Why even a mubaahalah, you might wonder? Then read the following:
This then boils down to the false allegation of me being a kaafir, when I am a Muslim, alhamdulillah.
The guy then added extra names he had been disparaging and, for some reason, did not even ask me to make mubaahalah regarding them. I had no issue at all making du'aa' to Allah concerning something I have no doubt about, especially when scholars of Ahlus-Sunnah have clarified the status of:
- Imam Abu Haneefah
- Imam as-Suyooti
- Imam an-Nawawi
- Al-Haafidh ibn Hajar
Hence, below are scholarly references:
Ahlus-Sunnah Scholars on the Status of imam Abu Haneefah
Shaykhul-Islam ibn Taymiyyah said:
>Alhamdulillah. The 'aqeedah of ash-Shaafi'ee, may Allah be pleased with him, is the 'aqeedah of the early imams of Islam, such as Maalik, ath-Thawri, al-Awzaa'ee, ibn al-Mubarak, Ahmad ibn Hanbal, and Ishaaq ibn Raahawayh. It is also the 'aqeedah of the exemplary mashaayikh, such as al-Fudayl ibn 'Iyaad, Abu Sulayman ad-Daaraani, Sahl ibn 'Abdullah at-Tustari, and others. There was no disagreement among these imams and those like them regarding the foundations of the Deen. The same applies to Abu Haneefah, may Allah be pleased with him, for the 'aqeedah authentically established from him concerning at-Tawheed, al-Qadar, and similar matters agrees with the 'aqeedah of these imams. Their 'aqeedah is that which the Companions and those who followed them in righteousness adhered to, and it is that which the Book and the Sunnah proclaim.
(Source)
I would also reference the scholar and historian, shaykh Dr. Muhammad Musa as-Shareef, who spoke about the biography and legacy of imam Abu Haneefah, may Allah have mercy upon him, which again demonstrates his great status:
Similarly, al-Haafidh Ismaa'eel ibn 'Umar ibn Katheer, another scholar of history, hadith, and fiqh, described imam Abu Haneefah as the jurist of Iraq, one of the imams of Islam, one of the eminent leading scholars, one of the pillars of the scholars, and one of the four followed imams. (Source)

Ahlus-Sunnah Scholars on the Status of imam as-Suyooti
In the madhhab of imam Ahmad, there is one great Hanbali scholar whose work is often referred to and relied upon. He is imam ibn al-'Imaad (d. 1089 H), and his well-known book is Bughyat Uli an-Nahaa fee Sharh Ghaayat al-Muntahaa.
Another great work of his is Shadharaat adh-Dhahab, a biographical encyclopaedia covering ten centuries in the history of some famous hadith scholars and other notable figures. He praised imam Jalaal ad-Deen as-Suyooti (d. 911 H) by stating: "The musnid, the muhaqqiq, the precise investigator, the author of outstanding and beneficial works." Then he said:
>"Ad-Dawoodi thoroughly listed his abundant, numerous, complete, comprehensive, beneficial, precise, carefully edited, authoritative, and recognized works, and they exceeded five hundred compositions. Their fame is sufficient and removes the need to mention them. Most of his writings became well known during his lifetime throughout the lands, east and west."
Ash-Shawkani (d. 1250 H) described as-Suyooti: "The great imam, author of many works." (Source)
That's why scholars do not prevent others from benefiting from his works. One fatwa states:
>There is no harm in reading the works of al-Haafidh Jalaal ad-Deen as-Suyooti and benefiting from them, for he was a scholar well-versed in various sciences, including tafseer, hadith, and others. He has many works that one cannot do without.
>As for his creed, he was Ash'ari. However, the fact that he was Ash'ari does not mean that everything he had was incorrect. Otherwise, if that were applied consistently, the majority of Islamic books would be discarded.
>What should be done is to benefit from the books of such scholars in the areas of fiqh, usool, tafseer, and similar fields. As for matters of creed, one should refer back to the statements of the Salaf concerning issues in which there is disagreement.
(Source)
This also explains why shaykh 'Abdurrahman al-Barraak praised Tafseer al-Jalaalayn. This is the beauty of the efforts of our scholars: giving constructive criticism, clarifying mistakes, and showing why we should turn to contemporary scholars when studying such works by scholars known to have some zallaat. (Source)
Contemporary Ahlus-Sunnah scholars have endorsed and recommended the works of imam as-Suyooti, such as:
- Shaykh 'Abdul-'Azeez at-Tareefi
- Shaykh 'Abdullah al-Jibreen
- Shaykh 'Abdul-Kareem al-Khudayr
- Shaykh 'Abdullah al-Ghunayman
- Shaykh Muhammad Adam al-Ethiopi
If Ahlus-Sunnah scholars have endorsed the works of imam as-Suyooti, then they must contain things that are beneficial for Muslims to learn.
I must also emphasize that we, as Ahlus-Sunnah, do not believe great scholars to be infallible. Elements of human shortcomings will therefore be found among scholars. When studying under scholars, one will notice a methodology in how mistakes are dealt with, whether those mistakes are grave or minor.
The Haddaadiyyah have come with unfounded allegations against imam as-Suyooti, at times even relying upon works that scholars themselves have not established as being authored by him.
When 100% of an allegation rests upon an unproven attribution, the allegation itself rests upon an unproven foundation. Scholars have cited Professor Dr. Sameer ad-Droubi of the Department of Arabic Language at Mu'tah University in Jordan, who summarized the matter as follows:
>"Works that were not as-Suyooti's were attributed to him, and many books were falsely ascribed to him, particularly compilations covering several fields, works of literature and anecdotes, and especially those dealing with sexual matters..."

This leads to another point regarding what shaykh 'Abdul-Kareem al-Khudayr said.
Ahlus-Sunnah Scholars on the Status of imam an-Nawawi
See the commentary of shaykh 'Abdul-Kareem al-Khudayr while reading the work of shaykhul-Islam ibn Taymiyyah:
>Shaykhul-Islam (may Allah Most High have mercy on him) says: "People doubt the sincerity of his intention, but what is most likely is that he acts according to what has reached him and what he has understood from the texts."
>This is the statement of shaykhul-Islam. Meaning, if such words are said about ar-Raazi and his conduct, as you have heard, then what about the likes of ibn Hajar, an-Nawawi, and others whose good intentions, sound methodology in following the Sunnah, and care for it are well known?
(Source)
Al-Haafidh ibn Rajab as "the faqeeh, the zaahid, the exemplary model" in his explanation of the Forty Hadith.
So, did al-Haafidh ibn Rajab betray the Ummah by praising imam an-Nawawi, or are those who considered imam an-Nawawi an innovator, and others who have even gone so far as to say that he was a kaafir, the ones who have betrayed the Ummah?
Yes, the Haddaadiyyah have gone so far as to attribute statements and positions to imam an-Nawawi that scholars of Ahlus-Sunnah never attributed to him. So, who is betraying the Ummah: the scholars who knew the imam and his works best, or the Haddaadiyyah who came much later and attributed to him what those scholars never did?
Ahlus-Sunnah Scholars on the Status of al-Haafidh ibn Hajar
Shaykh Bakr Abu Zayd said:
>"And with this, you come to know that the accursed initiative of declaring the imams—such as an-Nawawi, ibn Daqeeq al-'Eed, and ibn Hajar al-'Asqalaani—as disbelievers, or belittling their status, or labeling them as misguided innovators, all of this is the work of Shaytan. It is a gateway to misguidance and leading others astray, as well as corruption and spreading corruption. If the witnesses of the Shari'ah are discredited, then what they testify to is also discredited. However, the ignorant and reckless do not comprehend nor do they verify."

Refutations and Clarifications Regarding the Haddaadiyyah
I would therefore also like to reference shaykh Abul-Fadl al-Misri, who continuously debunks, dispels, refutes, clarifies, and exposes the lies of the Haddaadiyyah. This includes claims in which the Haddaadiyyah allege that they are directly quoting certain imams, or claim that those imams held particular positions, when the context says otherwise or the content itself is not as they attempt to infer and project it.
The channel is of great value:
The Consequences of the Mubaahalah
Therefore, if we are to witness Muhammad ibn Shams and other Haddaadiyyah being afflicted with great trials, punishments, or sudden death, then know that they themselves asked Allah to inflict upon them what they stipulated in the mubaahalah.
It would be a great reminder not to tread upon such misguidance, and a deterrent for others from mistreating and lying against the imams. This alone is a testament to the soundness of the methodology of Ahlus-Sunnah.
What If They Realize They Were Wrong?
One might then wonder: What if one of them realizes that he was wrong in disparaging the imams and in making false takfeer against Muslims? Then know that Allah is ever Merciful and ever Forgiving.
Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) visited a Muslim man who had become extremely weak and emaciated, "like a chick." The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) asked him whether he had been making a particular supplication. The man replied:
>"O Allah, whatever You were going to punish me with in the Hereafter, hasten it for me in this world."
The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) responded:
>"SubhanAllah! You cannot bear it, or you are not capable of it."
Then he instructed him to say instead:
>"O Allah, grant us good in this world and good in the Hereafter, and protect us from the punishment of the Fire."
Anas then says that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) supplicated to Allah for the man, and Allah cured him.

If they repent, then I can only hope for them to make public tawbah, to clearly recant what they have said, and to instead pray to Allah for mercy before they are afflicted with something they themselves asked for.
Question on Obedience to Parents
Assalamualaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatu,
I don't want to delve to deep into personal matters but I will keep it brief.
One of my parents want me to work in a particular field, but I have my own interests in mind for the career I want to work in. I understand they do this for the benefit of my future and all so I try to be gentle even when things get shaky when speaking about the topic to them. I understand obedience to the parents has certain limits such as things that don't necessarily benefit them or they ask me to do something haram that you don't have to obey. I try to be dutiful in other things when it benefits them but I feel bad when they get upset or angry that I am ignoring them or being rebellious in this particular matter. I try to explain to them and be cordial but it always ends in a bad way and my relationship with them is not ideal at the moment despite being dutiful in other areas.
I'm wondering if it's better for my akhirah to listen to them here if it'll make them happy. I don't really mind doing the job they want me to do to be honest if their is a benefit for my akhirah. The work is permissible. Their would be a minor setback but I am relatively early in my career so it's fine with me.
Also would the same apply to other things like marriage? If my parents want me to marry a particular person that I wasn't keen on, but decided to please them anyway fisabilillah. Am I rewarded for it?
I would love your advice on what would be the best option to take insha Allah.
Barakallahu feek.

Claims upon Imam Abu Haneefah
There have been a lot of various claims that have been made against Imam Abu Haneefah (may Allaah have mercy on him). This web page serves as an archive for all the various claims. Any new ones will be added onto this and addressed, in sha Allaah. You may see the "last updated" date to check if a recent update has occurred or not.
I did have a post on this issue before:
However, it has become outdated, and I have instead moved that content to the web page, hence that old post now links the most recent page (and post), but I have left the second part of the post alone, as that will be addressed later.
24-Year-Old Azeem dies after coma following assault by Kanwariyas (Hindu pilgrims) in Hapur district, UP.
maktoobmedia A 24-year-old Muslim driver, identified as Azeem, died at Delhi's Lok Nayak Hospital on August 4, five days after he was allegedly assaulted following a road accident involving a vehicle carrying Kanwar pilgrims in Uttar Pradesh's Hapur district.
Azeem’s family has alleged that he was beaten by a group of men after his pickup truck collided with an auto carrying Kanwariyas near the Garh toll plaza on July 31.
Police, however, have registered cases based on complaints from both sides, and the circumstances surrounding the assault and Azeem's subsequent death remain under investigation.
According to Azeem's father, Intezar Hussain, the accident took place when the pickup being driven by Azeem collided with an auto carrying Kanwariyas. Following the collision, the auto driver and several passengers allegedly attacked Azeem. After assaulting him, the mob left him at the spot of the incident.
Azeem was initially taken to a local hospital for treatment by the police. He was later referred to Meerut and subsequently shifted to the Lok Nayak Hospital in Delhi, where he remained under treatment for around five days before he died on August 4.
In a complaint filed with the police, Azeem's father alleged that the auto driver and other passengers attacked his son following the collision.
The FIR registered at Garh Mukteshwar police station names auto driver Farman, along with Manish, Ankit, Lokesh and Shivam, all residents of Bajheda Khurd village, along with two unidentified persons.
The case has been registered under provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) relating to rioting, voluntarily causing hurt and attempt to murder.
