I updated my one-handed pen & marker aid based on some of your feedback
Hello,
A few weeks ago, I shared CapDock, a simple 3D-printed aid designed to make opening and recapping pens and markers easier with one hand.
The feedback I received here and in other communities was really useful, so I went back to the design and made a new version.
What's new?
- Improved desk fixation, with a recess for a TPU or adhesive pad under the upper jaw
- A rear support against the desk edge to make positioning and tightening easier
- Increased desk thickness range, now up to 50 mm
- A new modular version, where the cradle slides onto a separate mounting base
- Two slot sizes: 7–18 mm and 7–12 mm
- The modular cradle can be removed or replaced without removing the mounting base
I tried to take into account the suggestions and comments made about the V1 here, particularly around fixation and making the device easier to install and adapt.
The basic principle hasn't changed:
Push → Pull → Recap
I wanted to keep the mechanism simple rather than adding unnecessary complexity.
I'd be particularly interested in hearing from anyone who tried the V1: does the new mounting system address some of the issues you encountered?
