Is this a spay scar?
Could this mark on my cat potentially be a scar from a spay surgery? The black mark on her belly is NOT a tattoo. I had just marked with a marker where I thought I may have been feeling a scar (didn’t want to shave more than a needed to).
Background: I am 23 and live in the USA. I found this female cat outside a year ago. I took her to the vet after I found her, and they said that she’s probably somewhere around a year old and did not have a chip. They weren’t sure if she had been spayed or not yet, although they didn’t do an in-depth check on her spay status (shaving her belly, looking for scars, etc). She was “rotund” though, so they did an ultrasound just to make sure she wasn’t pregnant (she wasn’t, thank god). They said they weren’t able to tell on the ultrasound if she had been spayed or not yet.
She’s about two years old now, and I really don’t think she’s ever gone into heat in the last year that she’s been with me. I really don’t want to put her through an unnecessary surgery if she has already been spayed, so what do you think? Does this mark on her belly look like it could be a scar from a spay surgery?
