Those who didn't gain weight as a side effect of spiro, what manufacturer do you use?

Title basically. I've been taking brand name Aldactone for almost 4 months, now at 100mg. My only side effect is 10 pounds of weight gain/cellulite/fat in very estrogen-like places (butt/thighs/upper arms).

I workout 5-6 times per week of a mix of kickboxing, HIIT, muay thai, and running 3-4 miles outside, live in a walking city and walk everywhere (groceries, gym, etc.), and eat clean, so none of those things changed. Actually I'm more active now than before, but my diet is just as clean as before - I'm very intentional.

For those that either didn't gain any weight or lost weight on spiro, please share who your manufacturer is. You guys may think it doesn't matter but I would greatly appreciate you humoring me 🥹. Thank you!!

Title basically. I've been taking brand name Aldactone for 4 months, now at 100mg. My only side effect is 9 pounds of weight gain/cellulite/fat in very estrogen-like places (butt/thighs/upper arms).

Hair shedding fluctuating on spiro

I have been taking aldactone for 3 months now, titrating slowly. I did 25mg for two weeks, 50mg for 8 weeks, and now 75mg for 5 weeks.

I had increased shedding on 50mg spiro from week 6-8, but then a week into 75mg my shedding was less than it had been in years. 20-40 hairs per day. My scalp is no longer oily and I don’t get the sebum plugs I used to have a ton of. And I was shedding no more short hairs. But the past couple of days I’m shedding short/miniaturized hairs again and the shedding is 40 - 60 /day.

I’m about to raise my dose again to 100mg hoping it will help further? Why would I fluctuate like this? Have you guys had this happen? It’s maddening.

For those with success on spiro, how much hair do you shed per day?

Calling all the women with success on spironolactone, especially those that were shedding more than normal amounts of hair before starting. How much hair do you shed a day now? What dose did your shedding go down?

Thank you!

What amount of hair shedding signals that you’re on the right spiro dose?

I’m on 75mg of spiro for the past 3 weeks, did 50mg for two months and 25mg for two weeks before. I had a few weeks of dread shed 3 weeks after I started 50mg but now I’m definitely shedding less than baseline pre-spiro. But it’s not minimal shedding either. I didn’t have any shedding decrease on 50 so I think it’s beginning to work at 75mg but should I go higher? My derm prescribed 100 but I’m titrating up to be safe for side effects/hormones.

Attaching a photo of my shed after 3.5 days of it being in a bun and then shampooing, conditioning, and detangling multiple times. My hair is curly (3b) and between collarbone and top of boob length. Because it’s curly and I didn’t detangle it at all this is pretty much my full shed over the period.

The photo makes it look like more because it’s curly. It’s really not a lot of hair but I feel like an optimal dose would be less shedding than this?

What curl type is this?

Photos wet and then dry. My hair shrinks/frizzes quite a bit without tons of product lol.

I’m dealing with BAD water retention and bloating on aldactone now that I bumped up to 75mg this week. I’ve been on since end of Feb starting with 25mg for two weeks, 50mg for two months, and now 75mg.

I think it started at 50 but now it’s bad. I gained 3lb in two weeks and my stomach is literally distended. I was worried I’m gaining fat but tbh I have no new fat, my legs are literally just bigger like swelling after working out. I’m gassy all the time too and it feels so uncomfortable. I’ve been drinking water, adding electrolytes, no difference so far. I don’t even know how to drink more water without feeling disgusting.

What could help? I need this for my hair and it’s the only anti androgen med I can tolerate (besides this).
