Charging Rivian from perspective of current Tesla ownet

I’ve owned a Tesla model y for 5 years and I am in line for my r2. I understand charge costs for Tesla really well, but just learned about the Tesla subscriptions required for non Tesla owners using the Tesla charging stations. (E.g. my future state when on travel).

My question is this, when folks travel big distances (I’m on east coast) how do you charge? Tesla chargers, RAN, ionna, etc? And out of curiosity how does the cost compare to what I’m used to with my Tesla (0.20-0.44 cents kw)?

It’s not a deal breaker, I just only have experience with Tesla’s on Tesla network… do folks find rates to be comparable? Do you go to non Tesla chargers more? Are there lots of RAN stations…

I’m toying with going to the Rivian showroom just to see what information the nav gives me for where to charge and if it projects charge costs for a 1200 mile fake trip…

(This is no where near critically important for wanting a Rivian, but I’d like to understand how it differs in more concrete detail)

Edit: I opened ABRP to try and figure this out and was immediately greeted with “ABRP is brought to you by Rivian…” :-)

Tia!

Cellular Protection Plan ending?

The cellular protection plan is no longer listed under benefits on the Chase Freedom Flex benefits page. Based on this: https://www.chasebenefits.com/K113-022/pdf/BGC11539.pdf, it will end on 9/20/2026.

"Cell Phone Protection will cover eligible losses incurred through 09/19/26 and will be discontinued 09/20/26."

I just got this card, switched my phone plans to it, went to document the link in my personal notes, and noticed this...

Does anyone know or see anything different on their Chase Freedom Flex cards?

edit: I never saw any notification, but I just got the card, so it's possible I got the card after the announcement AND/OR i just missed it...but I got the card specifically for this benefit was documenting the perk in a central location and went to get details....and discovered it was no longer a benefit. :-/

Aftermarket 20” wheels and tires for r2

I poked around a little bit and it looks like there are some aftermarket wheels being built by ev sport line.

https://evsportline.com/collections/rivian-r2-wheels-tires

Probably cost about 2-2.5k for aftermarket wheels and tires in 20”(or more if you go crazy)…

I tend to think It would make better sense to buy aftermarket for me, I bet you could even sell the original wheels one at a time to curb rash victims.

Anyhoo, I’m inclined to get the “cheaper” 21” wheels and if I want more compliant 20” tires I’ll do that using aftermarket options.

If the 20” wheels came with all season rubber I might go the other way.

I’m not sure I have a question here, but lots of folks are “annoyed” to some degree about the launch package 20” wheel option and if I’m faced with the decision (unlikely due to my waitlist date being in 2026) that this is what I’ll do…
