A warning for fellow bike riders that like silk dresses: be careful with the bike seat
So I own a couple of silk dresses and skirts, mainly secondhand from Réalisation Par. 2 satin, 4 crepe de chine, five are midi/maxi length. The skirts and skirts of the dresses are all bias cut. And I just realized that almost all of them have a spot, on the back of the skirt between my upper thighs, where the fabric feels a bit papery, with a weird texture. When you hold it against light there's some more see through spots. And in the inside of the fabric you can see that it's shifted a bit, that the print is not fully aligned anymore.
I live in a european city with a strong bike culture, I love biking, so I bike everywhere, in almost every outfit. It only now occured to me that the movement combined with the bike seat probably places quite some force on the fabric, and that combined with sweat and how delicate silk is wet.....
Don't be like me. Don't bike in bias cut silk. And if you do, try not to sit on it. 🥲🥲🥲
