my hetalia yumesona is the personification of algeria!! i‘ve been using this sona to get more in touch with my own nation’s history (as somebody who is mixed and lives in the uk), and anglo-algerian history is really fun from a hetalian comedic perspective :)

anybody else do this when making a yumesona as a closeted trans person?

i’m unlabelled (but masc-leaning) trans, but my yumesona is a trans guy and he looks REALLY different to me. idk if i’m necessarily dysphoric, but my sona is my ideal self, which as a person who is physically unable to pass as a guy bc of my body type, making my sona a passing trans guy is really comforting to me. that’s also why my sona looks so different, because i based him off my male relatives rather than my self 🥲 idk if anybody’s felt and done the same, since i’m pretty new to the community ^^

france and algeria (oc) sketch

because algeria, when colonised by france, was actually considered part of metropolitan france, i think their relationship would be something akin to severe control and helicopter parenting. the other french-colonised maghreb nations (morocco, tunisia, mauritania) all maintain an amicable relationship with their adopted father to an extent, while algeria himself has always vehemently renounced their relation.

outside of diplomatic duties, in the modern day francis is always trying to call (going against his own government by doing so) or contact algeria in some way, usually through his maghreb siblings, but of course it never works. to call them estranged is a gross understatement.

i’m mostly a fanartist lol, i thought it would be nice to post some of my stuff onto an art forum!

i’ve been trying to experiment more with hue lately instead of intense shading, so i’ve been leaving most of my pieces flatly coloured as an exercise!
