I think this is the best color combo I’ve ever seen
Hi all, I wanted to rant a little bit about something happening at work and see what everyone's opinions on it are. For some context, I work as a cashier at a retail store.
I'll start from the beginning, ending with the current frustration I'm having.
Somewhere within my first couple of weeks working at the store, the general manager fired one of my coworkers (we'll call him M) for not putting his two weeks in after lining up a new job. As a result, we were short staffed and other coworkers had to scramble to cover his shifts for the next two weeks. Fast forward to a couple weeks ago, one of my coworkers (we'll call him A) went to the GM and put in his two weeks because he got another job lined up, and the GM told him "we don't need you anymore" and let him go. This was super frustrating for multiple reasons. First, just weeks prior he fired M for not putting in his two weeks, just to let A go for doing the right thing and putting his in. Second, because of his spur of the moment decision, the schedule was changed last minute and I was put on his Thursday and Friday shifts (which are my usual days off). The assistant manager (we'll call her B) mistakenly put me on the shifts without asking me if it was okay because she was having to scramble to find coverage. I went to GM and told him this wouldn't work for me because I had already made plans to be out of town, which resulted in him taking the task of scheduling from B. Now he has implemented a new policy that the schedule going forward is permanent and that he will not be taking time off requests, no matter how much notice you give. I found this out when I tried to request the days following Thanksgiving and Christmas off because I have to travel out of town and can't make it to a 7:45am shift those mornings. Now if you want a day off that you would normally work, you must find coverage. This is super frustrating, again for multiple reasons. First, this guy likes to fire people for anything. He's currently trying to figure out a way to fire another coworker because he simply doesn't like him, meaning even if I find someone to take the shift, there's not guarantee that I will be able to keep that day off because he might fire them, they might quit, etc. Second, it would be one thing if we had enough employees for that to be feasible. As I mentioned, I'm a cashier, and at full capacity we only have 3 cashiers, so I don't have many options for coverage. GM told me we would be able to "work something out" if I can't find coverage, but seeing as he doesn't know how to operate the register, I know he won't be the one covering my shift and it will likely be pawned off to my coworker K, who already seemed hesitant to take the shifts. Not knowing how to operate the register aside, there's been times where he has asked me to stay late because someone had to leave early, stating that he's "only there to do the freight order" and then he's going home, even though I had been there since 7:45 am and he got in around 12 pm (he ended up staying because I said no which I had to pat myself on the back for). This guy is supremely lazy, all he does when he's there is sits in his office on the phone and calls over the radio for people to bring him things (if we are all busy with customers, instead of doing it himself, he tells us to do it when we're free).
This is unrelated but gives you insight into the type of man GM is. During the Spokane fires that displaced around 60,000 residents, B had to leave in the middle of her shift because her apartment was part of the evacuation zone. She was gone for about an hour and came back with all of her belongings in her car to finish her shift. The next day she had to leave part way through her shift because she had to have her animals at work with her due to the evac and it was just too much to handle, and he was frustrated with her for having to leave to evacuate in the first place, even though she came back to finish her shift.
Side note, minimum wage here is $17.13. B told me that he assumed she was making $25 an hour as assistant manager, but she is only making $18. This tells us he must be getting paid more than $25 an hour, and for what ?
I'm really curious to hear what everyone's opinion on this situation is and if I'm overreacting.
Hi all, my sister was involved in a hit and run today. Basically, I wanted to make sure before posting if something would be allowed. We have a low quality pic of her face and car, and I’m curious if posting those to see if anyone can ID her would be allowed. Thanks in advance :)
My jaw dropped when I found the sapphire plate for ONLY $3.50 !! I’ve wanted a sapphire piece for a while but have never found one (I only buy pieces I find in person while antiquing/thrifting because I love the thrill of the hunt)
My grandma got this for me sometime in the late 20teens and I’ve always been curious about its age. Can anyone tell me anything about it ? I can’t quite tell what it says on the back.
I’m certain the mug is sunflower, but unsure about the pitcher. TIA :)
One of my holy grails I’ve been trying to find and I finally did today !!
This is a photo from facebook marketplace, but I’m trying to figure out which green this is. TIA !
I bought this bowl back in 2019 when I was still new to Fiestaware because it was the exact same color as the vintage green plate I had. I obviously know now that it’s not Fiestaware, but have held on to it because it fits in so well. I’m curious if it’s from a different HLC line that used the same green glaze, or if it’s just a total knock off. It’s very lightweight compared to Fiesta and has no marks. TIA :)
My first piece of any sister brand, absolutely in love with the shapes !
Been collecting since 2019, but only recently starting finding vintage pieces in the wild (I only buy Fiesta I find in person while thrifting/antiquing).
I also have 36 pieces of Amberstone which I know some people consider to be vintage “Fiesta” but I didn’t wanna get all of them out 😅
I got my second collectors book today, and in the price index there’s a price for a “rare jumbo mug” in Amberstone. It’s not mentioned or shown anywhere in the Amberstone section. Does anyone know about this piece ?
I know what it says but it looks … odd ?? So now I’m super curious because I’ve never seen this specific piece before. Really confused and looking for info on this piece !!
The listing says it’s Lilac, but I feel like it really looks like Lavender. It’s so hard to tell the difference between the 2 in photos.
My parents bought this for me a couple months back and I have no clue what color it is. Anyone know ?
Does anyone else use tea cups as ramekins ? If I’m drinking tea or coffee, i prefer something bigger than a tea cup, but still wanted to collect them, so this is what I’ve been doing for years :)
