O curso de IACD na FCUP é bom e tem saídas?

Boas!

Obrigado!

Is the reels algorithm broken today?

I’m being recommended reels posted 2 years ago.

How is this possible? I thought the max was like 20 weeks and even that was a stretch and pretty rare. Is this happening to anyone else?

Is a 14” M4 max 36gb 1tb for 1500-2500€ worth it?

So, I’m a computer science and engineering student, and right now I have a 14” M4 16gb 512gb MacBook Pro.

I’m not sure if the 16gb ram will bring me any trouble since I haven’t really put my MacBook to test (only been running 1 ide but next year I’ll have to run dockers, virtual machines and multiple IDEs at the same time).

Some local shop has the M4 max 36gb 1tb on sale for 2499.99€, which seems like a decent price compared to what we usually get in the EU (the M5 MacBook Pro starts at 2300€ in here).

If I had the M4 max I wouldn’t use it exclusively for college stuff obviously, could stop using my main desktop with an AMD gpu for video editing (6750xt, not that good for anything other than games) and also play games on it sometimes.

I also have a friend who’s willing to buy my MacBook for 1000€, so I could bring the overall price down to 1500€.

Do you think it’s worth it or should I just hold on to my current MacBook and hope that prices don’t increase much in the next few months in case I have to upgrade it?

Americans: how do you handle temperatures above 40ºC (104F)?

As an European who lives in the district (state) of my country with the coolest summers, it’s 37ºC (99F) right now.

I have an exam in about an hour for now, I don’t know how I’m gonna be able to take it with this heat LOL.

If I stay inside my house/classroom I melt due to the heat being trapped in (opening windows won’t help) if I go outside it’s too hot and there’s also this insane wind which is hot af.

I see you flexing many times that you can handle 110F+ easily, but how? Looking for some tips

Classical pianist (19) thinking about buying a bass. Is it a risky jump if I didn't like guitar?

Hey all

So basically, I’ve been a classical pianist since I was 8 (I'm 19 now), so I already have a lot of music theory knowledge and finger dexterity under my belt. I'm at the point where I can play Chopin etudes, ballades, etc.

A few months ago, I started getting an interest in guitar and soft rock, so I picked up an acoustic to try and learn. I ended up not liking it as much as I expected. Holding multiple strings down with my left hand to make chords just wasn't comfortable at all. I guess I’m just too used to the hand positions you use on the piano.

But lately, I started stepping out of my "classical" zone and playing some rock riffs on the piano, specifically stuff by The Smiths. I play the bassline with my left hand and the guitar part with my right, and I realized I genuinely enjoy the harmonies that the bass creates.

Because of that, buying a bass is an idea that's been lingering in my mind for a few weeks. Today, out of curiosity, I grabbed my acoustic guitar and tried to play the “This Charming Man” bassline on it. I actually played it pretty decently and on tempo right off the bat. I already had the harmony memorized from playing it on the piano, which probably helped quite a bit.

So my question is: should I go ahead and buy a bass? Is it too risky of a purchase since I already know I didn't enjoy playing the acoustic guitar? Does piano experience actually translate well to bass, or am I just having a lucky moment?
