hey all! i’m not usually caring for beetles, so i know very little about them unfortunately. today i found this reddish brown stag lying on his back on my porch. i thought he was gone at first, but i put my finger down and he grasped on!

my question now is this; can he be saved/helped or is it his time?
if it is his time, do i let him go naturally or can i put him in my freezer to pin later?

currently trying to give him some cherry but i dont think he likes it very much.

he keeps flipping over no matter how much i try to help him stay upright. am i prolonging his suffering by trying to help? i dont know what to really do
