RBI Grade A Syllabus: How Similar Could It Be to RBI Grade B? | Our Prediction

With RBI Grade A not having been conducted in the recent past, there is naturally a lot of speculation around what the syllabus could look like if the exam is conducted.

One possibility worth discussing is the syllabus overlap between RBI Grade A and RBI Grade B. If Grade A is introduced, candidates preparing for Grade B may already have a significant advantage, especially in areas such as Finance and Management.

However, this is important: RBI has not officially announced the syllabus or pattern RBI Grade A examination. So, at this stage, we can only analyze the existing structure and make an informed prediction.

If you're preparing for RBI Grade B, it may therefore make sense to continue building your core concepts rather than waiting for the Grade A notification.

We have discussed the possible syllabus similarities, differences and what aspirants can realistically expect in detail here:

What do you think?
If RBI Grade A is conducted again, should its syllabus largely overlap with Grade B, or should RBI introduce a completely different syllabus?

PFRDA Exam is around the corner

If you’re struggling to clear RBI Grade B mainly because of Quant, Reasoning, or English, this exam is definitely worth considering if your goal is to get into a regulatory body.

Paper 1 is relatively easy compared to RBI Grade B, and you generally need to clear the minimum qualifying requirement (around 30 marks) rather than chase a very high score.

Paper 2 is also quite different from RBI. It has a much stronger focus on static subjects such as:

  • Finance
  • Management
  • Costing
  • Commerce & Accountancy
  • Economics
  • Companies Act
  • Pension-related topics

So, if Quant is your biggest roadblock in RBI, this can be a good alternative.

One thing to keep in mind: the exam is not conducted every year, so you have to keep an eye on the notification and plan accordingly.

If you’re consistently missing RBI because of the Phase 1 sections, I’d definitely keep this exam on your radar.

Missed RBI? Don't waste your preparation—consider shifting to NABARD.

A lot of people spend months preparing for RBI and feel like all that effort goes to waste if they don't clear it. It really doesn't have to.

If you've already covered:

  • Current Affairs
  • PIB
  • Government Schemes
  • Reports
  • Economic & Social Issues (to some extent)

then you've already completed a significant portion of what you'll need for NABARD Phase 2.

The overlap in the descriptive syllabus is substantial, and unlike RBI, the QRE section in NABARD is qualifying in nature, so your focus can remain on strengthening Phase 2.

Instead of waiting another year for RBI, it may be worth redirecting your preparation while everything is still fresh.

Missed the RBI Grade B cutoff? Don't let one result define your preparation.

If you couldn't clear the cutoff because of QRE, or if Current Affairs is the section that's holding you back, you don't necessarily have to wait another year for RBI.

Many aspirants overlook other excellent regulatory body exams such as:

  • SEBI Grade A
  • IFSCA Grade A
  • PFRDA Grade A

These exams offer excellent career prospects, and many candidates find:

  • QRE to be comparatively more manageable than RBI Grade B.
  • Current Affairs to have lower weightage than in RBI.
  • A large part of their RBI preparation (especially ESI, FM, English, and aptitude) remains useful.

If your goal is to work in the regulatory sector, it makes sense to prepare for multiple exams instead of relying on just one notification.

For those looking for a single preparation plan, CGB Mentors has a Brahmastra Mahapack, which covers:

  • RBI Grade B 2027
  • NABARD 2026
  • SEBI Grade A
  • IFSCA Grade A
  • PFRDA Grade A

Has anyone here switched from RBI preparation to SEBI, IFSCA, or PFRDA? I'd love to hear about your experience and preparation strategy. Course link in comment section.
