NACS versus CCS

I just bought a 2024 and as a new EV owner I was worried about it not being compatible with NACS. However, having researched more about the various charging options with EVgo, PlugShare, ABRP, etc, it seems like there are just as many CCS and J1772 options, if not more, than NACS. I actually think I would have been annoyed with the NACS port as I would have had to use an adapter often. Is the move to NACS really about the supercharger network and that’s it? Their speeds are not even that good and I will avoid them like the plague because of what they represent. I don’t understand the move to NACS tbh.

EDIT to say: I know my car is compatible with NACS using an adapter, I was just worried this would be a more constant affair with a CCS car and a major hassle. However it appears the vast majority of public DC is CCS, not NACS, so I don’t need to worry about it.

Afraid of older models

Alright I’m in the market. Been following this car for 3 years and have wanted an EV for much longer…, between the ICCU issues and things like the lack of OTA updates, I’m almost gun-shy about buying anything earlier than a 2025 model.

Are the differences in earlier model years so stark that’s worth me to continue considering? Or nah, get a great deal on a 23 or 24 and move on?

Additionally, how do the warranties work for used Ioniqs? When we bought my wife’s Palisade used they made it clear we would not receive the balance of the warranty.

Basement Waterproofing

Not a builder so correct me if I’m wrong. Why is it still the standard to tar and waterproof a walkout basement wall when there are other technologies available such as concrete admixtures that are waterproof and “self heal” cracks and crevices? They really do work. It seems that this would be the most effective and efficient way to build.

90 Day Last Resort Violin

The near constant sharp violin soundtrack in the LR is driving me nuts. It doesn’t fit the moment 99% of the time and I think it is only used because of the medieval setting. It’s extremely grating and quite honestly makes me not want to watch the show. End rant.

2020 Palisade Consumption Rate

I have a 2020 Pali with 121k miles. I got a consumption test about 10k miles ago and it was less than a quart per 1,000. I am now consuming about 1 quart per 800 miles or so. For those of you who have owned this car and seen this, do you think I’m in the way to engine failure or can I just keep babying this thing and adding oil for another 60-70k miles? I just put new tires on it and had some bodywork done so I really don’t want to cut my losses yet. The damn thing is paid for.
