I’ve been thinking about this lately because almost every adult I know drinks at least one of these daily. But looking back, my absolute first sip of black coffee and my first sip of beer were both genuinely awful experiences. They just tasted like bitter dirt and sour water.

Yet, somehow, everyone pushes through that initial disgust until it becomes an "acquired taste."

Is it actually possible for a human being's taste buds to naturally enjoy that flavor profile on day one, or do we all just force ourselves to drink it because of social expectations and the desire for caffeine/alcohol until our brains eventually rewire themselves to like it?

What was your actual, honest reaction the very first time you tried either one?
