Teenager dragged along platform among Luas incidents prompting calls for anti-drag technology

In another incident, a dog owner was dragged along the platform after the animal boarded and the lead became trapped in the door; while in a separate case, someone’s fingers were trapped in the tram’s doors with a passenger onboard pushing their fingers out from inside the tram.

The final case saw a bag placed between the doors of the tram with two passengers running alongside the tram holding onto the bag before it stopped.//

Residents say they will block Dublin road in protest of inaction, but council officials say they are progressing an agreed plan

//In a statement released on Wednesday, the group said: “Following years of inadequate engagement by Dublin City Council (DCC) and its failure to address longstanding safety concerns, this escalation comes as 5 August marks one year of weekly peaceful footpath protests. Residents say that while DCC has implemented isolated measures, these piecemeal interventions often address one issue while inadvertently worsening another.”

The group said that their key concerns include years of unenforced weight restrictions resulting in larger trucks using the road as an illegal rat run, the council approving the road as an access route for the Land Development Agency’s Richmond Village development on the road, and what the group called “broken promises on consultation.”//
