Why do people find me intimidating/unapproachable and how to manage that?

Why do people find me intimidating/unapproachable and how to manage that?

People are often shocked when they get to know me at the difference between how they first perceived me and the person they come to know. People also struggle to be physically affectionate with me. Why? How can I lessen the shock/come across more easily?

I understand it can be useful to be intimidating in some situations but I find it sort of lonely.

I am looking for a creamy fragrance that isn’t too sweet, almost like a skin scent but with projection.

Perfumes I’ve most enjoyed/have worn for long periods of time:

  • byredo bal d’afrique — I LOVE the dry down in cold weather and ideally just want that, but I’m not a fan of the overly candy fruity topnotes which are stronger in warmer weather
  • escentric molecules molecule 01
  • escentric molecules escentric 01
  • ralph Lauren blue
  • ds & durga Siberian snow — my all time favorite fragrance that’s been criminally discontinued

Perfumes I’ve tried:

  • bdk 312 saint honore - i sort of enjoy the dry down but generally too sweet/floral for me
  • glossier you - smells like screeching rosey twizzlers on me, do not like
  • commodity paper - too sweet itchy amber
  • arquiste peau - same as above, I find they smell identical
  • le labo another 13 - has a note that makes it smell slightly spoiled? I can’t explain.. almost celery adjacent?
  • le labo amberette - slightly too… cantaloupe?
  • ELD fat electrician - sooo close… but slightly too waxy sebum for me

Notes I typically dislike: sandalwood, vanilla, caramel, marshmallow, sugar

Notes I like: iso e super, musk + amber (if not too sweet/“itchy”), Lily of the valley, vetyver, woody laundry type vibes but I find fragrances described as such often lean sandalwood or too sweet

If you have any thoughts or suggestions I would love to hear! I wonder if I even know how to describe what I am looking for… cozy woody?

Thank you for reading
