Vuggestuer/Bornehaver

Hi! We may be moving to Nuuk from Copenhagen next year and I’m hoping to hear from parents who have experience with the vuggestuer and børnehaver there.

Which ones have you had particularly good experiences with, and why? Are there any you would recommend avoiding, or any issues you think a new family should know about?

I’d especially love to hear about things like:
• how caring and engaged the staff are
• staff turnover/staffing shortages
• communication with parents
• how much time the children spend outdoors
• activities and overall environment
• how they handle children who are new to Greenland or don’t speak Greenlandic yet (they do speak Danish)
• wait lists/how difficult it is to get a place

I’ve been looking at places like Mikisoq, Muku, Apisseq, Uiloq, Puiaq, Paannaat and Paarsisoq, but I’m very open to others!

I know experiences can vary a lot from child to child and year to year, so I’d really appreciate hearing both positive and negative experiences. 😊

Elevators in Copenhagen

My 2 year old has recently become obsessed with elevators. Everywhere we go, she is only interested in riding the elevators. Tivoli. Experimentarium. The zoo. All their features pale in comparison for her next to the glory and excitement of their elevators.

So where in Copenhagen can I find a place with lots of elevators she can ride to her heart’s content? It has to be somewhere where we won’t be getting too much in the way of regular passengers. She isn’t annoying and doesn’t press every single button. She’s happy just to ride along. Ideally it would have a cool view like a glass elevator but that isn’t critical.

Any suggestions welcome!

Prune juice in Copenhagen

I need to find prune juice in this city. Either it’s not a common thing or I’m looking in all the wrong places for all the wrong things. It’s for a baby who is not eating solids yet.

Please don’t laugh: Copenhagen law? Kids get free fruit?

I’m really gullible so my friends may be taking the piss out of me, but they said that it’s a law in Copenhagen for kids to all get a free piece of fruit at any grocery store in the city. You just grab a banana or whatever and declare it at the cashier.

Is this true? What’s it called or how do you declare it?

Am I crazy?

Book binding a report?

Where in the city can I get a book bound? I need to hand in a report for work and need it bound in any way. Is there an office supply store that either does this for me or where I can buy the stuff to do it myself? It can be any kind of binding so long as it holds it together. Doesn’t have to be fancy. Just needs to work!

Ticket resales website?

I’m trying to find tickets for a concert in Copenhagen that is sold out. I see Ticketmaster.dk does resales but am wondering if there are any other websites that people use to sell their tickets for events.

Help me make someone’s birthday special and save my ass for not purchasing earlier! 🙈

I need giant paper. Where in Copenhagen?

I need giant paper for a kid’s art project. Maybe the size of a bus stop ad but am open to anything. It needs to be sturdy so not the flimsy paper in the rolls of art paper in ikea for example.

A bus stop ad would be ideal actually and it doesn’t need to be blank.

Where can I get old bus stop ads or a paper that large? Someone told me I can ask at the train station where they discard of the old ones.

Anyone have any idea where I can get large sheets of paper? Ideally reused or recycled.

Game suggestions for 8 year old that loves Universe Sandbox, Ball x Pit and Sim City

My son loves Universe Sandbox, Ball x Pit and Sim City and I’m constantly trying to find more games he likes on Steam, however, all of the games he’s interested in seem to be for PC only.

Any suggestions for an 8 year old? He loves space, sims, and those types of games.

MSC Euribia Fjords Cruise Events

First time cruiser here and very excited! I was told they do special events and always include a white party on every cruise. What other themed nights should I bring special clothes for?

Also, I was told that people dress up for dinner regularly. Is that true? I have kids…do they need more formal clothes as well?
