food near gare central to take on the train

heading back to the states tomorrow on the adirondack amtrak train. any recommendations for getting food before our 11 am train to keep us fed and happy during our 10-hour trip? amtrak cafe car and albany layover are sad, sad food options.

dinner recs for 2-night visit in august

hi! my husband and i are coming to montreal in august (arriving by train monday evening, leave thursday).

we have some daytime ideas, including bagels (st. viateur) and smoked meat (dunn’s) and poutine (la banquise or paul patates or chez claudette) and/or maybe kouign aman or bernie donuts. but i need some recommendations for dinner our two nights.

we’re enthusiastically omnivorous (well, definitely for me; my husband is open-minded and down for a good time). we’re looking for recommendations that are uniquely montreal and GOOD FOOD (and cocktails/wine). aiming for perhaps a fine dining experience one night and a neighborhood gem/bistro another night, but we’re flexible. a trip with no kids means the world is our oyster.

i’ve already looked at a few restaurants, but nothing has sung to me yet:
+ candide (looks great, but is it truly good or overexposed?)
+ limbo (promising?)
+ fleurs et cadeaux (looks cool, but sushi is not hubs favorite and why are we going to montreal to eat sushi? convince me otherwise!)
+ au pied de cochon (menu looks VERY rich!)
+ garde manger (promising)
+ hélicoptère (looks good but i dunno … decision fatigue!)

we’re staying downtown but are open to anywhere that we can get via metro or walking. thanks for coming to my WAY overthought TED talk. appreciate your help/recs!
