Just finished Season 19….and wow

I watched Decision Day and the reunion this morning. By the end of Decision Day I was celebrating them going 5-5, and then the reunion was a shocker.

I wasn’t surprised by some of the couples splitting, but Josh/Jalyn, and Derrek/Meghann were surprising for me. I got red flags from Josh from the start and the whole “Burning Man is the most important thing in my life” thing was super weird, but after Decision Day I thought they were good. But HE left HER after she even went to Burning Man with him and enjoyed because she wasn’t passionate enough about it?? Like, dude, you’re 31. There’s got to be more to your life than this, and if there’s not, then you’re not ready for marriage. Jalyn deserved much better.

I was surprised by Derek and Meghann, but I also get it. Miscarriages are rough for couples in traditional situations. Under these circumstances, I could see the effect it could have on their relationship. I was hopeful for them, but I could also see signs that they may not be right for each other from the start, like him not really getting how important her dog was to her and him being so hung up on “3 kids 3 kids 3 kids” even though she already expressed she wanted a kid but she wasn’t sure how many.

Chad and Belynda I wasn’t surprised by because he showed a lot of red flags. I’ve seen a lot of speculation that he may have PTSD from being a combat veteran, so I can certainly extend some sympathy to the man as I can only imagine how difficult that is to deal with, but the outbursts, the drinking, and being divorced 3 times already were not good signs. Then when he talked about how he’s an alpha male and not going to play 2nd fiddle to a dog, that was enough to know that definitely wasn’t going to work. Chad needs some therapy and peace, and I hope he gets it, but they were not a good fit.

I don’t blame Pat for leaving Rhonda. She was a lot from the start, and they just weren’t right for each other in terms of their personalities and needs. Pat seemed like a good guy, but he regularly missed cues from Rhonda that she wanted to share things with him and wanted him to ask follow up questions to show he was engaged, and they just went right over his head. But then she’d dress him down for it. He needed someone less overbearing and demanding, and she needed someone a little more assertive who could handle her big personality and also meet her emotional needs.

Will and Brittany I didn’t think would last after Decision Day, but, man, I was really hopeful. I liked both of them a lot and wanted them to work out. I just think they weren’t right for each other. Brittany was cool and could be a great partner, but she was also very insecure and her communication style didn’t jive with Will’s. She would just kind of speak without thinking when she was upset or worried and he was very thoughtful. I think he wanted to make it work, but just couldn’t meet her needs while having his needs met as well.

TL;DR: Josh was a red flag from the beginning and Jalyn was too good for him. I feel bad for Derrek and Meghann. Chad needs help and isn’t ready for marriage. Pat and Rhonda were not a good fit because of their personalities. Will and Brittany were also just not the right fit.

Overall, I’m kind of disappointed with how this season played out and how short it was, but still better than Chicago and Denver. Everything is still better than Denver.

Citi Field Parking Questions

So I’m going to the concert tomorrow night at Citi Field and was curious about the parking situation as I’ve only been there once before and it was for a Spartan Race so it was a much different experience.

  1. How quickly does the parking lot fill up? If the concert starts at 7 and I aim to get there around 5:30, would I likely still be able to find parking?

  2. I’ve read about parking at the shopping center nearby instead. Is that a better option than the parking lot? Is it easier to get in and out of and is the walk safe?

Any other tips or advice are greatly appreciated!

My Collection: Part 1

These were pretty much all picked up 10-20 years ago when I was in high school and college. I got them from yard sales, local music shops, and some were found in a crate left in the parking lot at the fastfood joint I worked at.

I just started pulling them out and organizing them. I have a couple more bins in storage that I’m going to look for later in the week. If/when I find them, I’ll probably post them here as well.

I have no idea how much it’s worth because I collected them before the vinyl market really blew up. I know some are classic albums, but they’re also not in mint condition by any means.

Anyway, just wanted to share. Let me know what you think!

Why don’t English broadcasters shout GOOOAAAALLLLL like Spanish broadcasters?

Just an observation between watching English broadcasts and Spanish broadcasts of the World Cup. The GOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLL calls are so fun. Why don’t the English broadcasters also do it? Is there a particular reason?

Anyone transition to becoming an actuary?

Not sure I’m ready to leave teaching completely or if it’s just a bad year, but I’m super burnt out and might have an opportunity through someone I know to get my foot in the door as an actuary with a big company. Has anyone done this? What’s your experience been?

The job would pay much better and be remote, but idk if I can give up the time off I get as a teacher. However, I have had an absolutely awful group of kids this year and am completely fried. It’s the first time I’ve considered leaving teaching.
