Repair seatbelt-like material?
I have a camera strap from a well-known manufacturer. the buckle broke (plastic) and I put in a warranty claim. it’s about 2 inches wide of double layer seatbelt material with an internal pad and silicone grip in the middle.
instead of shipping it back or whatever, they want me to “cut it in the middle, on the pad” and send a photo with my name and the date in it. then they’ll send a new one.
this is a huge waste of resources and a strap that is fine, especially since I can just put a small carabiner on the end and have a functional strap.
any recommendations for repairing the material itself? I’ll cut it, take the photo, and put it back together. I don’t have an industrial sewing machine, so straight sewing it together isn’t really a good option.
