Pdx 2300 MkII pro renovation ( wip)

Recently purchased my dream turtable but it was in bad shape. Luckily mostly aesthetic stuff or not that hard to fix. First steps were to removed all the dirt in the many interstices and nooks. 3 feet out of 4 were broken or loose nuts inside. So opened to fix it as beat as I could. Luckily the inside was in good shape ( motor , pitch). Only the pitch fader stem was bent but I was able to carefully straighten it once unmounted. A previous owner removed all the tracking light system inside so looking for parts to solder it back ! ( I taped it down the hull as the wires were dangling)Used a lego to fill the hole in the meantime. All the black screws are oxidised or in bad shape so ordered similar ones ( hope they fit perfectly). Started sanding the side dots of the platter as they were also oxidised. Ordered some ultra fine grain paper to finish the job. Picture is the wip as of today. I also gently sanded and polished the pitch bend metal rod. Next steps are finding one or 2 feet, a silver power button ( the paint is fully gone on mine). The tracking light system. I hand painted the big scratches on the body ( white exposed ao it was very visible). A cool project for that amazing turntable ! If anybody have the parts I am looking for let me know !!

My dream TT … one day maybe

Pdx 2300 MKII PRO ( J arm). Impossible to find here in France. Or the few I saw where so overpriced. To me those are the most beautiful ! ( one of my dj friend has a set , I always fawn over them aha). Vestax. What else.

Freestyle number : “religieuse au café”

Looper TEN8 volume 9 by Paul Skratch and Jointz. Track: banshee. Juste a little freestyle/ training with autobahns, 6 notes version, royal line among others.

Phrasing practice and repeat, nothing more

Just practicing phrasing. I need a to learn more tricks that work well with sentences ( delayed flares and variations of that and autobahn are among them, wip)

My flip or flop s8e5 entry ( organized by Vekked)

That week’s theme was platter of OR faderless for 4 bars minimum, 60s video. Again the beats and tools were made by the talented peops who also participate on the « producers » side of the event, and we have to choose among those. Happy I got a flip! Even if I did not make the cut for the podium. The victory lies elsewhere for me :). I try, I fail, I learn and I step out of my comfort zone. Perfect. And his community is pretty benevolent , so shoutout to them!

My first « flip or flop » entry ever. ( organized by Vekked)

Vekked’s contest is really fun. I was not going to participate because because I am not confident in my skills. But the other djs on his discord convinced me to do it just for fun. It did force me to step ou of my comfort zone. It was a last minute entry but I decided to try and have no regret. to quote an old Philosophy teacher of mine: « something , anything is always worthier than nothing/ no attempt ». I was happy to flip and not flop. And I got valuable and constructive feedback. I wish I had that ( community and benevolence ) when I was younger and I started scratching. Maybe I would never have stopped? Glad to have fun again !

Practice number : madeleine

Amazing beat by Lophiile. Called « 2pm Coffee » on the looper « skratch your own adventure vol.6 » available on tablist.net. Coincidentally dunking a madeleine in Coffee is considered by some aliens a reason to invade Earth. Go figure.

Faster scratch training : autobahn and delayed flare. Wip.

I picked up again scratching months ago now. And lately I feel like my hand and arms are slowly getting more comfortable speeding things up. Far from perfect of course but I recall I was not really able to it younger . It’s funny how being much older now and taking a more « student and practice» approach is making such a difference in my case compared to my back in the days « it needs to be now / I want all fast» approach to scratching back then. I realize I was the same in skateboarding . After 15 years back then I am sure I would have been much more happy and proud of myself regarding my skateboarding level if I actually spent the same time analysing what those tricks really were, down to the tiniest detail, as I am trying to do it today when I scratch. Never too late to learn something about oneself. And RIP Marc Johnson.

Training at faster bpm ( for me). Freestyle number : meringue

Dope CAKE EATER instrumental by Paul Skratch on his cool looper God Flow Alpha, available on tablist.net. I am not very good at scratching fast. So try to push myself !

Freestyle number : Paris-Brest

A quick freestyle. Less mistakes than the previous one, so let’s call it progress. And try Paris-Brest if you can. It’s a rich dessert but it’s amazing. Looper : God Flow Alpha by Paul Skratch , beat is called Harsh Reality.

Freestyle number : chausson aux pommes.

Another quick freestyle numbered after French pastries. Beat by Gold Voltron on the looper Gold Molotov 3 on tablist.net. Some mistakes ( my cutting the instrumental bits are so off beat I almost punched myself in the face) and some audible stuff I guess !

Looking for this. Anybody ?

Looking for one headshell like this one in good condition. Anybody willing to part with it for a fair price ? Best would be in Europe for the shipping costs

Freestyle number : Kouign Amann

A Kouign-amann is a rich Breton pastry made by folding butter and sugar into laminated dough, creating a caramelized, flaky cake-like pastry.
And this freestyle is me trying things , folding them in laminated attempts, creating trials and tribulations on the turntable and mixer. Beat : Wildebeast by Molotov. (Level up 36 looper)

Freestyle number : choux à la crème

Filmed the same day as the previous one. Same beat. Just tried different things. Sorry if redundant.
