Sc 500 dead

Ecco il testo in inglese:

---

Hello,

I'm writing to report an issue with my SC 500 Portablism Gear, which I purchased only 2 weeks ago.

The device suddenly stopped working, completely out of nowhere. It was working perfectly just a moment before. It's true that during the previous week the jog wheel had stopped responding a couple of times, but the issue was resolved by restarting the device.

Now, however, it shows no signs of life at all. I have already tried:

- Formatting the USB-C

- Changing the power bank

- Changing the power cable

Despite this, the device remains completely unresponsive. The only signal I get is the typical click of the jack when I connect headphones, which suggests power is reaching the device, but no other function responds. My suspicion is that some internal electronic component has burned out.

Someone can help ?

Long format, 85 BPM, freestyle scratch practice

It’s about a bazillion degrees in my little back room studio, but I had some time for a little scratch practice and I certainly wasn’t gonna pass that up!

Annoying Requests, how do you deal with them?

You know when you're playing a Techno set and someone suddenly asks for Reggaeton? Or you're playing Hip Hop and someone requests Trance?

That's just part of being a DJ, and everyone handles it differently.

Open Format DJs have more freedom to switch between genres, but even they need to wait for the right moment. Otherwise, the whole set can lose its flow and stop making sense.

How do you deal with requests that just don't fit the vibe of your set?

I'm currently developing a game called DJ Life Simulator, and this week I added a minigame inspired by this exact situation.

If you reject the request, you lose some crowd points. If you accept it, you have 60 seconds to play the requested track or genre. If you don't, the request pops up again, this time even bigger and more annoying on the screen. 😅

Do you think that captures the experience pretty well? Haha.

If you'd like to check out the game, here's the link: https://djlifesimulator.com/

Can we speak about Faders?

Why would people fit an Innofader to a Rane 72? If you're dropping that money on a mixer, why the actual fuck do you need an aftermarket fader?

In theory you can fit an Innofader to a £50 mixer from eBay and it's automatically as good at cutting as a £2k Rane.

Rane did kinda fuck up though when they put plastic fader mechs on a £1500 mixer!

Slippery when polished

I’m based in the uk, any good recommendations for best slippynes with my slip mats. Good polish or any other ideas. I polished the platter recently & the polish I’m using is useless for what I want. Seems to be some chemicals missing from the good old days lol.

Just got the Vestax Handy Trax and I'm not happy about the sound quality...

I'm used to listening to records on a Fluance, but I want to learn record scratching and after much research, I decided to get the Vestax...

I've plugged it into the MPC Sample to try and record some loops, and it's difficult to focus on what I'm doing, because the stylus noise is so obnoxiously loud. This is a brand new stylus, but I don't know what it sounded like with the old stylus, since I just replaced it (and the belt), before getting acquainted with it.

Did I make a big mistake? Did I install something incorrectly? Is this just normal?

Which Innofader for Rane 72?

Hey all. I'm thinking of upgrading the crossfader on my 72. It looks like Innofader makes a dedicated replacement (1-70-72) and a more universal one (PNP2). By my read, it looks like the only real difference is that the PNP2 will require a bit more time installing due to needing to mount brackets, etc... I'm hoping to find some opinions from people who have used both to help make the decision. Thanks!

SC500 owners – what did you change in scsettings.txt for the fader cut, and what result did it give you?

I'm getting used to my SC500 and I'm trying to fine-tune the crossfader cut-in behavior via scsettings.txt. Right now even a tiny movement off the min/max jumps straight to full volume, which I get is normal for scratch, but I'd like to understand the practical effect of the different settings before I start blindly changing numbers.

For anyone who's already messed with this:

Which exact parameters did you change (e.g. cutbeats, fader cut-in values, anything else relevant)?

What values did you set them to?

What was the actual result — smoother cut, tighter cut, only affecting the beat channel, etc.?

Trying to avoid a bunch of trial and error if someone's already dialed in a setup they like. Thanks in advance!

Sample "Wind-Up" - Torque Problem? Or Normal?

Hey all sorry for the newbie question but, I just got my first "real" 12" turntable a few days ago (first one was a Numark PT-01 Scratch). Edit: Should include that I'm fully set up on Serato as well, and I'm scratching on the 12" control record. One thing I've noticed is, I have the torque turned up all the way but samples still have a short "wind-up" period where they start slow and go up to speed. As I've been developing technique I've been giving what in my mind I've been calling a "helper push" to push it up to speed quicker when I need it. Is this a normal thing at high torque? Or should the sample go straight-away at full speed with no wind-up period? Do regular DJ's give that little "helper push" to it to get it up to speed without the wind-up when scratching?

Hoping to hear this is normal and not a problem with the turntable's torque, it's an SL-1200 and the torque is supposed to be great on these - not sure if samples should just jump right in at full speed or if it's normal to have that short "ramping up" period where they go from slow to normal.

Edit: Sorry if this is the wrong forum, I started on r/turntables but those don't seem to be related to scratching or anything but regular turntables and r/turntablism didn't have any entries for 14 years.. -- Cross-posting to r/turntablists as that might be the one.

Edit #2: Honestly thank you so much for all the feedback, I'm also starting to wonder about slipmats - I'm using the original technics slipmat with the plastic slip sheet but I ordered some Dr. Suziki's today - will see how those turn out. Double checked that the torque was at the highest setting yesterday as well. Will see how the new slipmats work out.

Favorite Scratch Sample!

I'm relatively new to turntables but have gotten the hang of scratching. I play for a band right now and my favorite part is the "behind the scenes" finding fun samples to scratch to work with so I wanted to know what your guy's favorite or most unique samples are to scratch with? For instance mine is a sound effect from dig dug

Shortee vs Emma Short-E courses comparison.

Being new to scratching, I have been exploring different courses. Have came across aproximately 5-10 different ones. This post is about dj Shortee and Emma Short-E.

At first I assumed it was a single person but now I've realized it's actually two different ones, thus decided to compary what each offers.

First is https://www.djshortee.com/scratch-dj-courses/ offering different courses :

  • Scratch DJ Essentials - 97$ , Faderless Fundamentals - 97$, Supreme Stabs - 97$, Beat Match Like A Boss - 97$
  • Supreme Starter Scratch DJ Bundle - 327$
  • Scratch Like A Pro - 1197$
  • Private DJ Lessons

The other is Emma Short-E's School of Scratch offering:

  • monthly membership for $49 a month
  • yearly for $360

I won't go into details what specifically each course offers - you can check by yourself via provided links. Anyone would like to chime to share personal experience in case you've tried it? thank you :-)

p.s. I'm not affiliated with neither of those gals. Sometime soon I might compilate a comperhansive list of all the courses I have came across.

peace

Replacing RCAs

Moving to a new apartment and recently wiped the dust off my 1200's (literally).

I haven't touched them in a while, and remember the last time I was cutting I had some RCA noise (jiggling the cables to find the right spot). Pissed me off as I had replaced these a decade ago + ground mod.

Been out of the loop on this and don't remember if I used special cables or just stripped/soldered a pair of RCAs.

What's your recommendation these days? I looked at some of the repair kits and of course they're stupidly priced.

Drunk People Close to the DJ Booth

This week I started adding fun minigames that mimic real life to my DJ Simulation game, like when the sound is too high or like you can see in the video, when some annoying drunk gets too close from the DJ Equipment and your heart starts beating faster, worrying about what might happen!

Hello DJs and Gamers, I'm making a DJ Simulation game that teaches you how to be a DJ in real life!

You can play by using mouse and keyboard or you can even connect some real DJ gear to your PC or Mac USB and use it as a controller!

It will be released on July 21 th and I'd love to get to 3k wishlists until launch, can you help me out?

Thanks a lot and god bless you!
