How to start an AV company and get a job in AV

So I’m been thinking about starting a very small 1 men AV company. I had experience from middle school and I’m currently working in a small theater and I wanted to know what would be the best way to start an AV company?

What should I get for bands?

What should I buy to become a mini AV company? I know how to run sound and do very basic dmx work and I’m running sound for my friends band and I wanted to know what should I get? I have 2 mixers both analog and 2 speakers (passive and only get up to 150 watts) and some mics and DI’s and now I want to upgrade. I decided first thing should be mixer (so I can run sound for bands without a good mixer) and I’m going to get the x32 producer. Next thing I guess are speakers then mics maybe some lights too. So any recommendations?

1,000 dollars for mixer

So I’ll be able to get 1,000$ for a mixer and wanted to know y’all’s recommendations? I have experience on the x32 so I’m thinking mainly about x18 or x32 rack. If you guys have any recommendations please let me know it’ll be mainly for running live sound probably less than 20 mics. Let me know if you’d like more information to recommend me some

Should I repair vintage mic?

I was digging through an old storage shed with my family and I found a hard case and when I opened it up found these 2 mics and I plugged them into a mixer only one worked (right side) and when I opened up the broken one I found these wire was just broken and I messaged a mic repair technician and he said it’s probably fixable but might run me 160-170. I’m not sure if I should it’d be cheaper to just get a new 58/57 what are your thoughts on this?

Discusión on miking casts

Hello Reddit I was recently talking to my old theater teacher on different ways of miking small casts (under 10) and I brought up that we could just use wired mics. He mentioned that I could possibly just set a row of 58’s on the lip of the stage and when an actor has a line for them to step up to it. My question is would it be better to just get a row of 58’s or give the actors a 58 for them to walk around with and have a stagehand on each side of the stage to take it when they go off? And is there alternatives you recommend? Thanks!

Live theater sound gear

So me and a bunch of my friends decided to start a live theater and we’re writing our own play and stuff. And since I have the most experience in tech theater (sound, lights management etc) I decided to be the technical director and so I decided I’ll be in the FOH running sound/lights and I need to figure out what gear I should get. So I need to mic 6 actors (most of them are pretty good for our age) and we’ll also have playback and maybe live music. So at first I thought of getting some phenyx pro wireless headsets (4) and 2 handhelds. But we won’t be using a big theater (I hope to be able to build our own stage roughly 15x10) so I then thought of getting room/hanging mics a store near me is selling 2 shure mx391/c and i thought of getting those. But I need to get a brand new PA I belive since I only have a powerpod 410 mixer (only 100 watts active mixer) and 2 phonic sem712 speakers. I was mainly thinking of doing the musical outdoors but I’m not exactly sure I’m not an expert but I know basics of lights & sound. If you have any recommendations please share and I only have about 1200$ budget (we’re still in school so we don’t have jobs but I am a payed volunteer at a community theater)

Need help choosing gear

So I’m trying to get into free landscape sound I’m not sure if that’s the right name but I’ve heard some people call it that. I was mainly prepare to run sound for bands and I have 4 years of experience from my school and I wanted to know what gear should I get? Currently I have a 4 channel powered mixer which is 100 watts and 2 passive 12 inch speakers and 2 wireless hand held jbl speakers with 1 reciver. I was thinking of getting 3 sm58’s or a behringer B 906 and 2 di boxes. But I also think of getting a xr12 and I am still in school so I can’t get a full time job but I am a paid volunteer at a community theater and I can average maybe 100-200$ every 2 months if I can get into some of the plays but thank you all for the advice I can get.
