Attempt #3 at summiting North Sister. Video update coming.
Made tamales for dinner after work (blessed be opening prep). Realized after I played the first serving that I was stuck in line cook mode. Roommate got the second serving.
Masa Mix:
130g masa flour
26g coconut oil (or olive or avocado)
300g warm water
1 tsp veggie bouillon
Filling:
I chopped up potatoes, sweet peppers, and jalopenos, put them on the top rack of my oven and broiled for 15 minutes, mixing half way through**.**
Finish:
I divide the masa in half and spread it into a big rectangle on a piece of parchment paper. I spoon as much filling as I can, roll the tamale up tight, press the sides as mush as you can and fold the excess paper over. I recommend tying or taping the tamales up at this point. Lastly I throw my steamer basket into my pressure cooker and pressure cook for 18 minutes on high. Release pressure and pull out of the steamer, and let rest on a plate for twenty minutes. Enjoy!
Reposting cause my first post was terrible. I didn’t quite know how to do my own videos. This was a tough tough hike. I started at 11am and finished at 8pm. I made it 7/7.5 miles up. Only 1/2 mile and 800 feet from the top. Excited to give it another go in a few more weeks. I will post the hiking animation in the comments.
What a great hike, excited to hit all the others now.
Pretty much the title, a co worker and I are going at 7am. Got plenty of room for more. Seven and a half miles up, 4000+ foot climb. I got most of the way up a few weeks ago. Fun trail.
Bend is the first city I’ve lived in where they have a set of rules to help you figure out what trees to slack line between. I finally figured out juniper trees have the blue berries and ponderosa have the extra long pine needles. Plus tree protection. What a great summer we have here.
