Convince Me Iron Druid Chronicles Is Worth It

Convince Me Iron Druid Chronicles Is Worth It

I just finished Hounded by Kevin Hearne and I liked it, mostly. The setting is cool and as a mythology nerd, I like the Celtic stuff.

I picked this up originally because I am all caught up on Dresden Files and wanted something similar to pass the time. However, I am on the fence about reading book 2. Can you help me figure out if I’d like the rest of the series? I know first books can be rocky, so I want to get some opinions before I dive in.

My biggest issues with Hounded are the pacing, some of the dialogue, and the large blocks of exposition given to us as stories.

Pacing - felt like there could have been a sense of urgency for a lot of the book, but when Atticus takes the time to sit on the porch or at the bar and yap, it loses some of the momentum. In the last few chapters, that changes and it feels good. I think setting a time deadline on the plot, “x will happen at y time” could have made the pacing so much tighter.

Dialogue - lots of asking questions, and some of the conversations with Oberon felt a bit too forced.

Exposition - on one hand, the exposition given to us as a character telling a story is cool. Atticus is really old and druids like passing knowledge through stories yada yada. But brother, we’re dropped a lot of lore as the “short version” of the story, and it just didn’t feel natural.

Do these issues improve in Hexed and following books? I am willing to power through a few weak first books for the juicy middle and end books, but I need to know if it’s worth it.

Jabba’s Palace (Command Tower)

Always loved the look of the Tattooine sky and thought Jabba’s Palace would make a nice addition.

This one is up for grabs, $120 shipped within the US.

Ideas on 2-drop creatures for mono red

Testing out what 2-drops could slot into a Sligh-style burn deck. Yes I know this slows the deck down, just testing for fun. Which of these do you fits between Ball Lightning, Grim Lavamancer, and Jackal Pup?

Curious about Pneumos healing on their own

Hello, I (27m) have been diagnosed with a small apical pneumothorax at the top of my left lung, its less than 20%. I’ve had it for 1 week now, found via xray at ER, went home after, followed up with PC, returned to ER and had a hospital stay over the weekend.

After multiple xrays, the cardiothoracic team attempted a pigtail catheter insert to relieve pressure but they couldn’t get it after three tries. They decided to send me home and wait to see if it gets better on it’s own.

I feel relatively fine, blood oxygen is at 98-100%, only mild discomfort, no other symptoms.

For anyone who has had a small pneumo that healed on it’s own, what was that experience like? Did you have a noticeable change in quality of life when the lung reinflated? Could you feel it reinflate?

And whats up with that bubbling in the chest when you lay down? Is that the air moving around the lung, shifting upwards? Or is that air leaking from the lung as you’re breathing. It’s an odd sensation.

Not scared or super worried, just curious to hear what others have experienced in my position. Thanks!

Supernatural x MTG Alters

A personal project of mine recently has been making Supernatural alters in different types of frames. Here is my first batch, trying out a classic art replacement, partial border extension, and a full art.

What other SPN scenes should be on Magic cards??
