guide to this year's prime day deals

spent a few minutes geeking out over on amazon, now that it's prime day week... though i might collect a couple cool sale items for you all.

this is all the good stuff I found. theres a few more here and there, but i didn't want to drown the list with a bunch of duplicates. so these are the highest quality, most well-regarded brands, or most widely-applicable items.

if you haven't gotten a new helmet in the last 3 years, might as well get a couple bucks off a MIPS helmet right now, before the foam in your old one starts to weaken

and speaking of staying on the bike, Shimano cleats are always a stalwart. I've worn them for road, gravel, and mtb. have literally worn the soles off a pair and they still clipped in well.

Store spare layers and food in a handlebar bag. At least that's what I put there o_O

and above it, you can mount what some of the most committed riders rely on, a Wahoo

Then mount a headlight below that computer mount. Honestly i want to buy this because it looks like a better setup with the remote control than my current clunky flashlight shaped one.

If you've never worn a real jersey, or shorts - buy some spandex and see your average speed tick up a notch (i do remember the first time i switched from basketball shorts, i legit think i picked up 3/4 a mph)

And $60 off a power meter crank is a pretty good deal to not pass up. tbh it's a noname brand to me, but it's got good amount of 5 star ratings, and a name brand will be 3-5x the cost, so could be a good one to dabble with

its funny but 2-3 weeks ago I was asking chatGPT about the fastest gravel bike tire in production and these were literally the ones i found. honestly more of a road tire but if you mostly hit rail-trails and fine crushed fine surfaces they'll work great.

sadly Rene Herse's aren't on amazon nor prime day deals, from which i do want to disclose i get a slight affiliate bonus from without increasing cost to you, otherwise i'd put those up. Been running them for years and they continue to amaze.

If someone buys that power crank please let us know how it is. i already have one otherwise i'd be in!

My weird baby

Hi all! Check out my custom bike.

Build around the idea of using the Lauf boost fork, and a group set from my at the time gravel bike.

Set up as follows.

Frame custom ti from Auren in Melbourne Australia.

Lauf boost fork

SRAM 10 speed groupset

TRP carbon spire brakes

Hope floating rotors, 180 rear and 220 front

ENVE M70 wheel set with industry nine hydra hubs

Redshift stem, seat post and bars

Ti 3D printed front derailleur mount

Ti 3D printed rear derailleur hanger plus an added goat link to clear a 11-38 cassette.

3D printed saddle

Fidlock bottle/storage mounts

Jagwire alloy links for both shifting and braking

I’ve alway loved how cables coming down the top tube looks so optioned it as such, leading to having to use a pulley for the front derailleur to route the cable back up.

This is my first disc brake bike and I didn’t do my research properly and now understand going bigger doesn’t mean better stopping power lol, hence the 220 on the front.

All in all very happy with how it came out, would do it differently again if I go custom again.

Coming in at just under 12kg as photographed I’m pretty happy.

First couple of months with my first gravelbike ever in and around Barcelona

Anybody down to ride in the cold season?

It’s a Cube Nuroad C:62 One, only thing I changed are the Leonardo racing seat post (450mm), Gravelkings X1 in Cranberry and Tubeless conversion.

Stoked on my new (to me) gravel bike!

Loving my new ex demo Marin Headlands 2 custom shop build! My first drop bar bike!

-GRX820 Groupset -Giant CXR1 35mm carbon wheelset -Panaracer Gravelking X1 R 45mm tyres -Flat pedals! 🤪 (I’m a MTBr of 25years on flats)

I definitely look like a mountain biker on a gravel bike at the minute, but I’m sure the more I get into gravel, the more I will end up in gravel attire! Not sure I can do Lycra, but maybe some more fitted kit and a helmet without a peak!?? Or does it really even matter!!??

Extra water bottle on order!
