An international student studying law for undergrad . Advice !

Hello. I am an aspiring international student hoping to study law at a prestigious uk university. I intend on to becoming a barrister and at the same time I am keen to explore other fields. I have a comfortable budget and at the same time I need insight for the quality of education , cost of living across England , living standards, neighborhood safety, job prospects and money worth the investment in the following universities. I am open for further suggestions about different universities from locals and foreign students who have studied law in the uk ! I am not applying to Oxbridge and do not prefer London unis.My current considerations are :

  1. Durham
  2. Bristol
    3.warwick
  3. Nottingham
  4. LSE ( if I get the scholarship)

Thanks 🙏

Are Indian n diaspora women aware how men that are of Indian indentured labourers descent in Mauritius , Fiji , Guyana, South Africa, Trinidad fetishise and lust over them ?

I am someone who is of Indian diaspora born to Indian parents abroad . I just got to know today that men from these countries travel to India to find fair skinned Indian virgins specifically Punjabi women as an object of lust as brides. There are literally agents that do this job! These people also look down upon Indians and treat our women with disrespect as a cattle/cow as livestock in marriage with no dignity and class as sex maids for traditional values. It’s a patriarchal mindset to view and abuse women to vent racist frustration in an attempt to own them as a prized possession and colonize to diminish them and feel better about themselves. They lust over exotic Indian beauty while they deem the race as inferior to match their uk degree status , their houses and cars and to please their misogynistic families with a good Indian girl who will be obedient and cultured to keep fast, take care of in-laws and uphold Indian culture because their nationality’s girls have a bad rep for being intolerant. So many of them view Indian women as an item to have as a backward extension of their mentality to denigrate and disgrace. It’s a disgusting thing when our government offer these people OCI facilities to marry our girls and dehumanize them. So many of them don’t like india too much and hate Indians but want to drool over Indian girls in exchange of them being a bang maid .
I got to know this via a girl from Delhi who had married a Mauritian guy who was gay and 40 years old. His parents were basically hyper religious and Mauritians are homophobic . So they lied to her about his sexuality and age by trapping her in a love marriage which was one sided and thought she will adjust in that setup all while she was scammed and mind you she had graduated from lady Shri ram college and was a barrister from UK.
She also told me how she knew so many like her in her situations whose Mauritian husbands had married them because they were young , fit and healthy to give them a child in marriage.
To all my Indian girls , this is awareness post . These nationalities fetishise you no matter how modern they appear and meet you in dating scenes. There are literally agents working for them. I hope someone does something to stop this racket! To all those reading , be aware that we have a global reputation to be meek and raise awareness about such incidents in our community .This is utterly disgusting how Indian government supports this !

How to deal with molding and grain weevils in Floreal ?

I recently moved to Floreal from the east. I was shocked by how common molding is in the centre though I expected the moisture. I have a dehumidifier in the rooms but
1.I was unsure on how to store onions, ginger and garlic fresh from supermarket that can’t be put in fridge unless cut open and packed in sealed ziploc. They are molding and decaying everytime I try a new storage method .

2.In addition to this, my utensils regardless of whether I store or keep on the platform after washing accumulate molding

  1. My rice , pasta and pulses get the weevils even after storage in containers 🫙 and new unopened packets get holes in them before infestation starts by weevils . I have to throw everything.

  2. My pasta sauce jar and ketchup bottles once opened stored in REFRIGERATOR after airtight seal is broken are also having mould.

I request people living in curepipe to help me with storage hacks ASAP. Thanks 🙏 a lot !

Has catcalling increased in Mauritius by Mauritian men?

I am a girl who has noticed that catcalling has become worse in my experiences where Mauritian men are not even hesitating with their worst sexualisation not only when I am at bus stop or walking but also when shopping, in public transport and restaurants. I hate the objectification of women in as what they were wearing, too much makeup or the time they were out. We are allowed to look beautiful and we are not items just as there are good looking men but we don’t try to touch them in conversations. While stuff like SA and murder are more specific with victims and abusers who know them , my experiences are not to be normalized as daily occurrences. Or else there are women that are minor school girls or those who return after 6 , what can we do if men and those to choose to ignore allow this misbehavior? With the increase in crime rates, it is incredibly dangerous for women to exist around frustrated emotionally deregulated random perverts .How are you all woman dealing with this ?

A question to people that are half Indian and half Indo-Mauritian!

As the title suggests, I am referring to people that are born in Mauritius and are currently living here to Indian mother and Indo-Mauritian father , or simply including all children of Indian expats living here due to their parent’s work, how do you deal with racism from Mauritians on a daily basis at school/tuition and in society. This has been affecting me a lot since a young age but it has now amplified . While I am aware of the fact that they don’t like us and call us Indian pig , I feel isolated and mentally drained with racist attacks, backbiting and social exclusion I face at university. I have been accused of not integrating while these excuses are just racist digs at our accent, food or pure hatred and disgust towards us . I find children of Indian mothers and two Indian parents face it the most as compared to Mauritian mothers being the combination with Indian dads which is misogynistic. I am very much disgusted by their mentality and behaviour. I am not going to apologize for my identity to these uncivilized people while they copy our culture, meanwhile I feel like creating a safe space for us all to feel accepted and not judged. Can you all on this platform comment if ever this has occurred to you ? I am thinking of creating a community for us in Mauritius so that we can meet, socialize and have our separate thing from them. I am done mingling with judgmental , mocking , gossiping people that use the opportunity to disrespect us.Please let me know how many of you are interested via dm . A humble request to other Mauritians is to not spam the comment section with racism. Thanks !
