Graphic design and gaming pc

• New build or upgrade?

New

• Existing parts/monitors to reuse? (List with models/links)

no

• PC purpose? (Gaming, editing, etc. List apps/games)

I want to build a pc that’s good for both gaming/streaming and running adobe programs like illustrator and photoshop (possibly video editing in the future too). I don’t play too many heavy video games, I think the heaviest would be modded Minecraft or open world games tbh. I don’t play any fps games or league. Not planning on playing with the absolute highest fps or resolution either.

• Purchase country? Near Micro Center? (If not US, list local vendors)

US, near micro center but I’d rather not drive all the way over there lol

• Monitors needed? (Number, size, resolution, refresh rate)

Gonna start out with one, will eventually upgrade to 2. If anyone happens to know good monitors for design, I’d appreciate any recs. Idk the size exactly but on the bigger side, either 27 or 32”

• Budget range? (Include tax considerations)

~$1500, willing to go a little over

• WiFi or wired connection?

WiFi

• Size/noise constraints?

No

• Color/lighting preferences?

It would be nice if I could change the rgb colors if any but I realize my budget might not allow for that. (Altho tbh I’d prefer no color over just rainbow lol)

• Any other specific needs?

No

Can I add designs from work into my portfolio?

I work at a print shop and sometimes I get to do quick designs for business cards, envelopes, etc. Would I be able to add that into an online portfolio? I’d ask my boss but I don’t want him thinking I’m looking for a new job. I don’t think I ever signed anything that says I can’t (I can double check bc I still have all the papers from when I was hired).

One solution I thought of is, what if I just put that work into a password protected page? Still though, I’m not sure if that is frowned upon.

Space-y sound effects/synth appreciation post

There’s probably a better term for this but man I just love the cool synth sounds they have in the new album. It sounds soooo, well, space-y and nostalgic. Scratches my brain in the right spot

So I consider myself a pretty good artist (ofc I have a lot to learn including what I’m about to explain). But I’ve always struggled with fabric. Like no matter how many times I’ve tried to study it, I’m just not good at it. I feel like I understand it conceptually, but when I actually try to draw it, everything I understood about it just goes out the window. Especially when I try and render it. Sketching is one thing and easy to make it look okay. But when I try to make it look detailed and 3D, I’m just guessing the entire time and it doesn’t look good. I can copy a reference just fine, but I wanna be better than that. Most of the time I can’t find a good reference photo anyways.

Does anyone have any tips? Like maybe videos, books (I have a couple), ways to study?

I’m forcing myself to finish these two pieces I have, and on both of them I’ve been stuck on the fabric for months. It’s to the point where I haven’t touched them in weeks/months because i know I’m gonna struggle the entire time.
