I’m currently working the lace edging of the Heart of Winter shawl by Nim Teasdale

I have no idea how to work the double yarn overs on the wrong side row. After I did the first WS row after the double yarn overs, I realized they stayed double yarn overs and the hole got bigger. I looked it up and realized sometimes you’re supposed to knit through one loop and purl the other. My pattern says absolutely nothing nowhere about that. Am I making a mistake by only purling across and then only knitting across these double yarn overs? Will they close after the first row of the next repeat?
