If your favourite fic was the original, do you think you would've enjoyed it as much/more/less than the JKR ones?

(Ofc fics build on pre-existing material so they largely rely on the assumption that we already know the original work. Let's pretend they don't. Please be normal.)

I've been looking for fics with the main character striving towards something. I know a lot of Harry Potter ones set in Hogwarts fit the bill but I'd love some recommendations with characters that are a bit older(not high schoolers). Honestly, they could be learning anything: a craft, a trade, how to cook etc. I think I'm trying to scratch the "Blue period" itch. (This is a manga i highly recommend)

You know those montages in like boxing movies and the training scenes in shounen anime? I like how the training is a major plotpoint.

Honestly, it doesn't even have to be a fic. I'll read/watch/listen to anything.

Anyway, I'd love your recommendations.

Hello. I've been looking for a tv show that used to come on just after Barney and friends(I don't remember the channel) that featured child actors in life size ant outfits. The storyline followed them acting out stories involving ants. Like sometimes the set would have very large grass and paths. I remember them looking for food to bring back to the colony so they had very big corn props and an ant hill set that looked like somebody's sitting room.

I used to think it was a segment on Barney but nobody else seems to remember it so probably not.
