Wearing a pro-Palestine shirt with the Black Panther Party logo/slogan?

There’s a Palestinian-owned coffee shop in Oakland which has been targeted by the Federal government and forced to close for political reasons. They are raising money for their legal defense and said one of the best ways to support is to buy their merch. I came across one of their shirts that uses the Black Panther Party logo and says “All Power All People - Gaza - Palestine.”

I’m not looking to argue about the conflict in Gaza, but I am curious how that comes across? Historically, the Black Panther Party has stood in solidarity with Palestine, but I’m half Middle Eastern and half white. I would feel weird wearing a shirt with that logo, even if it’s clearly for Palestine.

I think my mitigation numbers say something about how I play Rein

Not my best stat line, but we got the W. Only after the match did I see the mitigation between all the tanks…

Need help sourcing short funny, cool, weird, or interesting spider-man videos

I work with a small local indie movie theater and want to show fun clips and things before the movie so early moviegoers have something fun to watch. Any suggestions? I am open to anything as long as it isn't AI or brain rot.

Here is an example of a clip I showed before Fantastic Four - Human Torch Song (this is 100% real)

Looking for ideas to save our local historic theater

Hoping to crowd source some ideas from people who love movies and love going to see movies. I work with a local small-town arts nonprofit in the Bay Area. There is a movie theater we work with that has been around since the 50s. They are invested in our community, do a bunch of special events, and if it goes away, it will become a parking lot.

At first glance, it’s nothing special, pretty old seats with no bells and whistles, but it’s won the “Best Movie Theater” in the Bay from a major newspaper multiple times because the community loves it and we came out and voted.

The issue is that it’s a one-screen theater. We have 200+ seats, but being limited to one movie at a time really hurts. For example, the theater needed to decide between showing the Odyssey and Moana right now.

I am lucky enough to be able to program events at the theater and I’m looking for ideas for fun and unique things we can do that would bring people out? For example, I recently did a screening of Scott Pilgrim and had a band play a bunch of songs from the movie before the film started. That one was super successful. At the same time I also did a screening for Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping (an incredibly underrated movie), and like 20 people came.

Have any cool ideas? We have access to a ton of musicians and artists through our organization. We also have a lot of partnerships with businesses around town, but getting them to financially pitch in may be a little difficult.

Two free tickets to bottom of the hill tonight if we can figure out how to transfer them.

Update: they are claimed.

I’m in Castro Valley, and unfortunately can’t make it tonight. I know BOTH has rules around transfers, but if there’s any way y’all know how to transfer the tickets, they are yours. Don’t need payment, just want to pass along the good vibes. There was a teacher on this sub looking for tickets, I’d love to give them to a teacher.

Budget IEMs that go in front of your body?

Hey y'all! I’m new to the world of IEMs, but I’ve been a musician for a long time. I recently got a pair of TRUTHEAR Pure IEMs, thanks to this sub, and they’ve completely changed how I perform. I love them.

At the same time, I’ve decided to move away from streaming and invest in a DAP. Though, I’m finding my IEMs a bit cumbersome for everyday listening. The main issue is that the cable goes down my back, which works great for performing but is really annoying for listening while doing chores or other activities. The cable is also not very long, and the over-ear configuration is a bit cumbersome.

I would also love to have controls on the cable, like some earbuds I used to use. Though, I can deal with the latter three issues as long as I have a quality cable that I can wear down the front of my body.

In the DAP subreddit, I’ve noticed that people almost exclusively use IEMs. Do they make ones that fit my needs? Should I just get some good earbuds? I would prefer earbud style instead of over-ear headphones. I’ve done some searches in the subreddit, but I’m still not sure what to choose.

Can anyone recommend some good entry-level IEMs or earbuds?

I did a ton of searches in the sub and can't find specifics, (I see a lot of people say things like Bluetooth is trash, but I am not sure what that specifically means).

I am hoping if I post what I am looking for, I can get some recs from people in my situation. Here is my ideal DAP:

  • Sub $200 since it's my first one.
  • I don't care about if it has a touch screen or buttons, I just want the navigation to not be a total nightmare.
  • No apps or streaming, Wi-Fi is fine for downloading songs or updates etc. but I want to completely get off streaming and complicated apps.
  • I do a lot of driving, I drive a 2020 Rav4 with Bluetooth and USB-C that connects to Android Auto/Apple Play depending on what phone is connected. Not sure if the USB-C works with something like a DAP. It would be crucial that I have some way to listen to music in my car without Aux. Being able to change tracks with my steering wheel buttons and seeing the track info on my screen would be a major plus.
  • I love playlists and am super into curating them. Having a way to create and manage playlists, even if it is on a computer, would be great.

What should I look into buying?

I’ve tried a ton of sleep headphones and earbuds, even expensive ones, and always had issues. I know I’m in the minority, but I can’t sleep with total silence. It stresses me out. I also have an elderly dog with health problems and I need to be able to hear him if he needs me in the middle of the night.

The best I’ve used so far are the AcousticSheep headbands. My only complaint about them is they make me sweat since I’m a hot sleeper.

The mantasleep ones were pretty good, but hurt my ears more than the acoustic sheep and they were even hotter on my face.

I tried some of the anker earbuds a while back, and they were comfy, but blocked too much sound.

Any suggestions, or should I go back to the Acoustic Sheep and just turn up my fan?
