Request for a very specific script

Hya!

I'm a podcast editor and I'm always looking for ways to be as fast as possible, shaving off the seconds where I can.

While editing, it is usually very obvious from the waveform where someone says "uhm" before I even get to it. But I don't have a 100% success rate, I get it wrong sometimes. For example, a long "aaand" looks like an uhm sometimes. So I'm pretty good but not perfect. But sometimes when I am just so completely sure that there is an Uhm coming up, I cut it out before I even listen to it and if I could do this more than every once in a while, it would speed up my work and just keep me in the flow better.

So, my request is for a very specific script that I wouldn't know where to even start with writing myself. I tried googling juuust in case somebody has thought of this before but didn't find anything unsurprisingly.

I was wondering if anyone would be willing to volunteer their time and make a script for me where

* While the recording is playing, I select a part of the timeline (time selection)

* I press the key on the keyboard that has been programmed to do the following actions

* The time selection plays

* After playing the time selection once, the playhead immediately snaps back and continues playing from where it was right before I pressed the key.

Does this make sense? Is it too specific lol. Idk but I feel like each second this would save me would really add up. If no one wants to do this out of the goodness of their hearts I can also pay like 10 bucks or smth idk lol.

Thanks!

Edit: stop suggesting AI I'm begging.

Will all good apartments be rented after October?

Hi hi!

I'm moving to Graz at the end of September and am currently looking for an apartment to rent.

My thought was to rent one place for a month (and I've already got a place that I could rent for that month) and do in person apartment hunting when I'm already in Graz. But my other worry is that since it's the start of the semester, will most decent places get rented by other students if I leave it until November? (Also worried about what if a month isn't enough time to find a place?)

Is it better to do a viewing via video call and secure a place before I'm even in Austria so I still have options or wait until I'm there so I can see what I'm renting with my own eyes.

Please help ! <3

Recommendations for a weekend trip?

Hya!

Doing a weekend trip to Tbilisi for the first time next week and was wondering if people had recommendations for what to do? I'm planning on seeing some old friends for one of the three days but I have not made any other plans otherwise. Any and all recommendations, from small bar events (quiz, movie night, karaoke) to the most touristy museum in the city, are all welcome!

Imagine your dream apron (sewing project help)

Hey! So I'm a decently experienced hobbyist seamstress and for my friend's birthday this year I want to sew her an apron cuz she likes to cook. And I don't want to just make a normal apron, I want to engineer the best damn apron that she won't find in the store. I already have the pattern I want to use in mind, but I really wanted to hear from all of you people who actually cook regularly about what would go into your dream apron.

This can include things that are already common things seen in aprons such as type of fabric or placement of pockets or whatever else (it's not like I've never seen or used an apron before lol, but Im sure I still have gaps in knowledge that might seem obvious to y'all so please absolutely feel free to suggest really obvious things that aprons in stores already include for a good reason!)

Or this could be really ambitious things that aprons sold in stores really basically never include. For example, and this isn't that important but I thought it would be cute, I am going to include a bunch of different pockets including one long and narrow one for wooden spoons and spatulas and stuff, but it wouldn't be sewed on. It would be attached with cute buttons so that she could take the pocket off and clean it easier when she needs to. I'm sure one very narrow long pocket isn't that important to an apron, but I like the aesthetic of having a bunch of different pockets with all unique buttons.

So to reiterate my question for you all. What would go into your dream apron? Please feel free to be as sci-fi or realistic or boring as you'd like. Just because you leave a comment doesn't mean that I'm contractually obligated to do it, so go ham! But I would still love to hear the completely unrealistic desires because I might be able to either get inspiration from them or try to get as close as I possibly can to them.

Thank you!! And if there's a better subreddit to post this question to, please let me know! (Besides r/sewing haha)

Edit: another question to help you, try to think about common problems or minor inconveniences you have while cooking that you have decided you just kinda have to live with. Doesn't even have to have anything to do with the apron haha, but I'm sure I could still come up with something.

Was this Sound Design admissions interview question about AI?

I just had an admissions interview as a part of a masters application for a sound design program. Most of the questions were predictable but one kind of tripped me up. I tried to answer best I could but after the interview I still continued to think about it cause it felt like such a random question compared to the other ones. The question was "What recent developments in sound design have you been following and interested in?"

Afterwards that evening I was talking to a friend and she pointed out that most developments recently are AI. I wasn't even thinking about AI when they asked me that at the interview and it never crossed my mind. But once she said that I realized that maybe they were trying to ask a vague question to get me to reveal if I use AI in my work??? (I do not)

This is just a theory but since I've got 2 weeks until I get an answer about my application I can imagine I'm gonna be replaying the interview in my mind a lot lol. I'd appreciate people's thoughts on this!

The reason I care about this or am curious cause I just wasn't that happy with my answer and realizing they might've been hinting at AI kinda made me feel better?? Since they don't give me the vibe that they *want* me to use AI lol.

At the end of the day it's not gonna change anything and I'll know an answer in 2 weeks anyway but I was still really curious what people thought.

Are admissions people in universities in general now trying to check if people use AI in their work? It would make sense if they do.
