How often do yours puff up?

Up until this week I had never seen any of mine puff up (and I have 14 now!), but Tuesday from the corner of my eye I caught the Cross River at my office puffing up. He's pushing 22cm now and he looked absolutely huge inflated! Unfortunately by the time I got my phone and opened the camera he was already deflated and back to normal. I took note of the time and it was 5:20pm. Then 2 days later, yesterday, at 5:40pm I saw him do it again! He was already deflating when I saw him and again I totally missed capturing it on my phone. He just took a couple of breaths and went about his business like nothing happened immediately after.

Now I can't help but keep my eye on him when it's around this time, but this can't be a daily habit right? How often are we talking about? I really want to capture it on camera. I'm fairly certain nothing startled him or stressed him out, he's definitely the boss of the tank, so I'm really wondering what's triggering him to do it and how often I can expect to witness this magnificent sight!

Are we overlooking the US market?

We're an EU medical device authorised representative and importer. Over the past year we've built a team in China. Most of our work now revolves around helping Chinese manufacturers navigate EU market access, compliance, MDR, importing, and distribution. Through this, we've developed relationships with a number of manufacturers producing some genuinely high-quality devices across various specialties. So lately we've been wondering whether we're overlooking opportunities in the US market.

We're trying to understand how do US distributors typically discover and evaluate new device manufacturers? Are independent sales reps an effective route to market? How much value does territory exclusivity actually bring in the current market? Do we have a chance of partnering with US distributors without a physical presence in the country?

We're interested in connecting with medical device distributors, independent sales representative and biz dev professionals looking for new product lines. Looking forward to your opinions and suggestions. Thanks!

Staying up to date with industry exhibitions and events in general

What accounts/websites do you guys follow to know what's going on in the city or China in general? Whether it's expos, forums, product launch events, business conferences, etc... how do you stay in the loop?

Do your bigger puffers also have ‘stretch marks’ or ‘lines’?

My big boy has these lines on his cheeks and running along his body. I can’t find any resources discussing this and have been wondering what they are exactly…

The Queen of the tank

Snapped a pic capturing her in all her glory right after feeding and thought I’d share. I’ve got several tanks, and there’s plenty of tank mates in this one too, but there’s just something about these fish that make them special!

He’s now addicted to shrimp

I’ve had this guy since January and he’s refused to even look at anything that’s not ramshorn snails. Problem is he wasn’t growing at all. After I had enough, last month I decided to starve him until he breaks. It was hard but after 11 days, when he looked completely shrivelled, he finally broke. He started to eat a small piece of shrimp begrudgingly here and there at first, but now he’s a changed fish! Always the first patrolling the surface waiting for shrimp to drop from the heavens at dinner time, and he will feast until completely stuffed. I just shed a tear of pride. He’s finally starting to put some weight on! Here he is chilling out with his buddies after a good meal :)
