This format of having like an anime girl or something on screen, the obnoxious ai voice that's sometimes sped up, the giant captions, the stupid sensory asmr/slime videos in the background, it all feels like its just appealing to the lowest common denominator. Mindless entertainment made for kids with low attention span.

Naturally, a lot of the people making these videos are literal kids or at least minors and plenty of them are happy to give out their thoughts on things that they aren't qualified to talk about at all. It's like the worst version of those "hot take/anonymous confession" accounts, except many of these are individuals getting actual attention and followings for this ridiculous and talentless garbage instead of someone posting what other people submit.

These accounts are all over tiktok and youtube shorts and they're probably on reels too. I think the awful AI text-to-speech voices are annoying already but they only seem to be getting more popular, even outside of these videos.

I always wondered why Santa Destroy reminded me so much of San Diego. Turns out that it's based on San Diego, at least partially, as the background staff went there to check it out for NMH1.

The architecture, the general vibe/feeling, the Mexican border and the beach, the Gaslamp quarter, the giant baseball stadium, the shops and locations, the restaurants and suburban areas, all the empty parking lots and desolate spots. It's probably really obvious to a lot of people but getting confirmation is cool since I'm San Diegan. I've heard people say that it's based on San Francisco, Los Angeles, and other places before.
