2025 Taos - losing faith - transmission
Hello,
Purchased a 2025 Taos in 2025 from the dealership, this was a demo car so it already had 9000km on it.
Issues we’ve had so far:
December 2025 and February 2026 we had the same warning come up “transmission in emergency mode - you can continue driving”. Neither of these occurrences caused a check engine light. Neither time did it seem to cause any issues with the driving. Both times I took the car to the dealership - the first time they said there was no codes on the car and as the warning had disappeared after a few minutes they said there was nothing they could do, and to take a photo of the warning next time. Second time it happened I took a photo; took it in I got this on the report:
“NO TRANMISSON CODES WERE PRESENT UPON SCANNING VEHICLE HOWEVER, THERE WERE A FEW CODES FOR INSUFFICENT AIR FLOW IN BANK ONE. PERFORMED THE TEST PLAN GIVEN BY ODIS.
SECONDARY AIR INJECTION SYSTEM TEST
PERFORMED TEST PLAN
1- GENERAL INSECTION - PASSED
2- SECONDARY AIR ACUATOR TEST - PASSED
3- PRESSURE SESNOR TEST - PASSED
4- END TEST IF NO FAULTS FOUND, NONE WERE FOUND CUSTOMER TO MONITOR CONCERN AS NO MALFUNCTION CAN BE MONITORED AT HOME”
Then in March 2026 we got a check engine light. No transmission warnings this time.
And the report shows this:
“VERIFIED CUSTOMER CONCERN. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON.
CONNECTED THE BATTERY CHARGER, SCANNED THE VEHICLE WITH ODIS. FOUND N112- SECONDARY AIR INLET VALVE WAS PRESENT. RAN THE TEST PLAN, RESULT POSSIBLE MALFUNCTION CAUSE
-THE HARNESS CONNECTOR IS NOT OK.
-CORROSION
CHECKED THE VOLTAGE AT THE CONNECTOR. CHECKED CONNECTOR T2AR/2 WITH CONNECTOR DISCONNECTED RESULT AT 14.29V. CHECKED CONNECTOR T2AR/1 RESULT AT 2.39V. THEREFORE, THE N112 SECONDARY AIR INLET VALVE IS DETECTED.”
Now we’re in June 2026. My husband was leaving work on Friday and the car started but a warning flashed up and the check engine light was on, the warning said something along the lines of “transmission error, do not drive”. The car fired up but no gear would engage. Whatever the stick was moved to it would never leave N. After 30 mins of turning the car off and on multiple times it allowed him to drive it, and he drove it straight over to the dealership with the engine light still showing.
They straight up refused to even code check it there and then and told us we needed to come back Monday. By Monday, engine light has gone off again and there was no issues over the weekend.
I’m just waiting on the car now, it’s been with them for 2 hours already but I’m losing faith in them and this vehicle.
