What happens to annual and sick leave

I’m planning to resign/quit from the NYS Court System, probably after November, and I’m trying to figure out what happens to my accrued time when I leave.

I currently have:
370 hours annual leave
42 hours sick leave
76 hours comp time

Does anyone know if annual leave is paid out as a lump sum when you resign, or does it keep you on payroll for a period of time so that you continue receiving regular checks?

I’m also assuming I should use my sick leave before leaving since it won’t be paid out — is that correct?

Is comp time paid out when I leave?

We recently received a reminder that if our annual leave exceeds 378 hours, the excess gets converted to sick leave, so I’m already pretty close to the limit.

I’ll probably work through November since we have four paid holidays that month. Just trying to figure out the smartest way to handle my accrued time before I give notice. Any UCS/NYS Court employees familiar with how this works?

Going solo as an Ethics attorney - attorney discipline

I am 39F living in NY. After law school worked for a small collections firm, then became a Hearing Officer/ ALJ for NYC Housing Preservation and Development for 3 years. I left that job because salary was capped. I’m currently a government attorney for 8 years, prosecuting attorney misconduct and disciplinary matters, including cases that can result in suspension or disbarment for attnys.

I’m wondering whether specializing in one niche area would generate enough income to sustain a solo practice. I’m in the NYC tri-state area, and I haven’t come across a large number of attorneys who focus specifically on representing lawyers facing disciplinary or ethics charges. I’d essentially like to take my experience and move to the other side—starting a firm where I represent attorneys in professional responsibility and disciplinary matters. My concern is whether that niche alone could generate enough consistent business to make a practice financially viable.

Radiation or Cryoablation?

Hi all,
I’m looking for some advice or experiences regarding my dad, who is 66 in New York, diagnosed for 8 yearsz

He is currently receiving treatment. Last year, he was able to come off all medications for a period of time and was considered to be in partial remission.

Most recent PET scan showed a lytic lesion on his iliac bone (the pelvic/hip area). His oncologist described it as being about the size of a marble. Unfortunately, it appears that his current treatment isn’t effectively targeting this particular area.

His doctors have given him two options:
1. Cryoablation: This would be performed at the same time as a biopsy of the lesion. My understanding is that a needle is inserted into the area and extreme cold is used to freeze and destroy the abnormal/cancerous tissue while trying to preserve as much of the surrounding healthy bone as possible. He would be under twilight sedation for the procedure.
2. Radiation: He has had radiation before, several years ago, for a tumor on his spine. That tumor was actually what led to his multiple myeloma diagnosis in the first place.

Has anyone with MM, or a family member with MM, gone through cryoablation for a bone lesion? What was the procedure and recovery like? Did you experience significant pain, complications, or other side effects afterward? And if you were given the choice between cryoablation and radiation, what factors helped you decide?
I’d really appreciate hearing about anyone’s experience. Thank you!

Justmadiha and her sister

So I’ve been following Justmadiha for a long time, whose sister is MissMulberry. Their brother married Sarah, who also seems to be an influencer. I’ve noticed that Sarah and MissMulberry rarely interact on Instagram and never seem to like or comment on each other’s posts. Does anyone know if there’s any drama there or what the story is?

Husband keeps crying, but ends up at hotels.

I (38F) have been married to my husband (42M) for 17 years. We don't have kids, and our marriage has been rocky for a while.
Last year, I found out he was having an affair with a woman from his college days. He eventually cut her off after I filed for divorce and involved both of our families. But after that, I caught him in several lies.
We share a car, so I ended up putting a tracker on it. Sure enough, while I was at work, he was going to hotels at least once or twice a month. I've also caught him browsing escort ads in the past, so at this point I honestly believe he has some kind of escort addiction.
After filing for divorce, I moved into my own apartment in another county. That's when he broke down crying, begged me not to leave, promised he'd change, and said he wanted to work on the marriage. He also agreed to share his location with me.
Today around 4 p.m., his location suddenly stopped updating. I checked where the car was instead, and it had been sitting at a Hilton for about 38 minutes. I'm just emotionally exhausted at this point.
What makes this so contusing is that our sex life has always been good. He's never complained, and he's always told me he's satisfied. I always assumed cheating happened because something was missing at home. I'm a good wife, cook, clean, work, full-time, supportive etc.
The hardest part is severing ties. Every time I do, he cries, promises he'll change, and I start second-guessing myself. He maintains that he still loves me a lot, and even he saw an Escort, it doesn't take away from his feelings for me. I know that sounds know that sounds insane. 17 years is a long time, and there's a lot of comfort and familiarity there. I'm also scared of being completely on my own, even though I'm already living independently and paying all of my own bills.

Open all advice. Dinner is tandoori chicken with saffron rice.
