Good day everyone,
Allow me to preface this by making one thing 100% clear: This post is not an announcement of a rule change. It is a post to present an issue to the community, with the hope of keeping this subreddit functioning smoothly and without outside interference.
Gradually, the moderation team has noticed an uptick in risqué art posts on the subreddit. This can likely be attributed to our hardline stance on NSFW content on the Odyssey; if people can’t post suggestive content there, they’ll post it somewhere else (here, in this case). However, this is causing two different issues.
First of all, people are not properly tagging their posts as NSFW. We beg of you, if you think that what you are posting is suggestive, titillating, or something you wouldn’t want your family or colleagues to see you looking at, mark it NSFW.
At times, we will mark a post NSFW that was incorrectly posted without that designation. Subsequently, the OP will unmark the post as NSFW. PLEASE DO NOT DO THIS. If the moderators have decided your post should be marked, do not reverse that decision. If you really have an issue with our decision, send a modmail.
The second, and honestly more important issue, is that we really don’t want to see this sub get marked 18+, like what happened on the Odyssey. For those unaware, it took us approximately 8 months to get Reddit’s administration to reverse that decision. No one on the moderation team, and I imagine none of the users of the Subreddit, want to see that same ordeal repeat here.
Now, before you read this next part, I want you all to understand that we are not instituting a blanket ban on Misg1111’s art. That being said, their art presents an additional issue for our decision making. I’m sure that most of you are aware that a lot of their posts are, to put it bluntly, fetish content. However, said content often doesn’t feature anything that would typically warrant an NSFW removal (such as nudity). This creates an unfortunate gray zone that is difficult for us to make a ruling on. Many posts of their work receive large amounts of reports for being NSFW, and the comments on said posts are also full of people making it 100% clear that they’re aware it is fetish content.
The point is that we have a few issues we’ve noticed with regard to suggestive content on this subreddit and want to address them here and now before something forces us to address them (like admins tagging our subreddit as 18+). We would be interested in hearing thoughts on this, especially given the “results” of our last foray into restricting content of this nature.
Just a little thing I noticed. Leading up to Canto IX, there was a lot of talk about the discrepancy in Ryoshu's introductory text/managerial guidelines between promotional materials (the website) and the in-game version. To be precise, the portion missing in-game that read "If you are at your wit's end, please press the red button included in your welcome kit."
I haven't seen anyone mention this, though I'm sure I could have missed this, but I don't actually believe this was dropped or ignored. After all, at the conclusion of the Canto, Dante does press a red button to fix a seemingly impossible situation of the contract being permanently severed: Ira.

Good luck with your rolls, everyone!
This is a topic I've been thinking about for a while, but the newly revealed EGO for Meursault has reignited other people's discussion on the matter. Limbus Company has, over the years, added a large amount of EGOs obviously designed to have synergy with specific Identities.
Some have said that this is exploitative, or a clumsy fix to old issues. The argument, I believe, goes that requiring two separate things from the gacha (ID+EGO) to make both viable is a cheap way to drain resources and encourage spending. Perhaps that's true, I cannot say for certain.
One thing I haven't seen many people talk about, though, is the way they've implemented these "synergistic EGOs" into the game. Not all of them (not even most of them) are actually necessary to make their paired ID function.
Additionally, these EGOs also tend to be powerful options, even when equipped on other Identities. Alternatively, for ones that are more status specific, you can still see the obvious effectiveness if only PM would release an Identity in that given archetype.
With that being said, I just wanted to share my thoughts on all of these types of EGOs.
Yi Sang's Fell Bullet: While you can certainly use these two together, the effect is far from necessary. The Identity grants the EGO Torn Memory stacks independent of resonance; conversely, the EGO allows the Identity to quickly accumulate Torn Memory stacks. They obviously synergize, but neither one relies on the other to be useful. Of course, that's only natural when the EGO was released a good while before the Identity.
Faust's Ardor Blossom Star: This is definitely one of the more egregious EGOs. It has a lot of effects related to self-burn, which is obviously only relevant on identities that apply self-burn (or in fights with enemies that use burn). But the Embers effect will be useful for any burn team, and several of the effects still work using burn on the targets. As for the passive, it's honestly not that good (in my opinion). Surviving the Skill 3 is cool, but the big reason you'd want to do that is so you could use it again (reinforced by the passive also giving wrath and blunt damage boost when it activates; otherwise you'd just need to use this EGO again the next turn to get full benefit). But that requires the Skill 3 rotating back in. Oftentimes, it'd be better to just have her die and sub in a backup unit.
Don Quixote's Yearning-Mircalla: This one is probably the worst of them all when it comes to being obviously made for one specific ID. Almost everything here is related to Bloodfeast. Outside of Bloodfiend teams, it really isn't going to be anything more than another run of the mill multi-coin high attack weight option (not that the conditionals change that, since they're mostly just damage boosts). Just as a contrast, Meursault's version of this EGO does have actual benefits in many bleed teams (triggering bleed, providing a lump sum of damage, applying extra bleed count, etc.) I suppose it will be a bit better when we get more Bloodfiends (and other Kindred lineages).
Don Quixote's In the Name of Love and Hate: Despite releasing simultaneously with its corresponding ID, this EGO is more broadly applicable than DQ's other Waw. Sure, the benefits for the magical girl identity are really good; an extra skill 3 and all the extra buffs granted to the EGO are undeniably useful. But any charge identity (if we could only get some more, please, PM) will still be able to benefit. It will steal heal, still buff the team, still grant Don some damage boosts.
Ryoshu's Red Eyes (both of them): OK, these don't actually really synergize. I just wanted to mention them because it's kind of hilarious that a Sinner has two EGOs for one abnormality, and neither does that much for the ID using that same EGO. Not to say they don't work together; the bind and the healing abilities do technically come together. It just doesn't amount to much.
Ryoshu's Contempt, Awe: Of course, this works very well with its corresponding Identity. But this EGO works very well for many Identities. Extra EGO resources always helps, and the damage boost from Gaze of Contempt isn't trivial. As an example, Blade of the HoS Ryoshu, despite synergizing with her seasonal Waw, actually can also benefit a ton from this one. If you're going all in on team-killing, she's going to have a lot of skill slots; more skill slots means more value from Gaze of Contempt's damage boost. The effects are simply generically useful, in the most positive and complimentary way possible.
Ryoshu's Great Trichiliocosm: Though the synergy with her seasonal highlight ID is there, the Identity still functions incredibly well without it. Entangled Life stacks from team killing can still be a small damage boost, even without using them to fuel a nuke with the Waw. Additionally, most Identities can get benefit from an EGO that rewards you for simply doing damage, and three different status effects means it can slot into a variety of teams (even if most IDs won't have all three at once).
Hong Lu's Tears of the Tarnished Blood: The effects are pretty good with Lord of Hongyuan, of course. Getting to use the big suicide attack without the death and turning that "survive death once" thing into a decent self-heal is valuable, not to mention the damage buffs involved. But almost everything about the ID still functions well without it. Conversely, many Identities can make good things happen with a big attack like this, not to mention the buffs Hong Lu gets from Wedge in the turns leading up to his inevitable demise.
Outis' Magic Bullet: Incredibly good EGO, and the use of the Identity's skill 3 allows you to keep utilizing it, even at 7 stacks. This is also, essentially, the only practical way to get a fully buffed Skill 3 from the Magic Bullet Identity. Extra burn infliction and, more importantly, same turn Dark Flame is a huge boon to any burn team. I won't deny that this EGO is practically essential when running the paired Identity. However, the EGO still is incredible on any burn Identity. Though you won't be able to keep using it without dying, the passive alone is enough to increase the effectiveness of any burn team.
Gregor's AEDD: Good synergy, since it allows the AEDD Identity's charge support to be even better. But the kit still works just fine without it, and this EGO has a place on any Rupture team featuring a decent amount of gloom skills. Synergistic without either strictly requiring the other.
To sum up my thoughts: EGOs made with special synergies with specific IDs isn't a problem. For the most part, Project Moon has made those Identities and EGOs functional without their "other half" in such a way that no one is really required to acquire both to use one.
After over a year, the time has come for a new Refraction Railway. Please click here for Project Moon's announcement regarding the details.
