Steroid treatment

Hi all,

I just want to kinda say this out loud, and not keep it in my head festering so please get ready for the pity party. I'm on week 3 of steroid infusions for TED and today I'm struggling...

The usual bad sleep I get is even worse. Probably a total of 11 hours since I got up on Friday according to my watch and although I'm exhausted I can't sleep.

I've put on 2 dress sizes in 2 weeks even though I'm calorie counting, my breasts have become huge and heavy and extremely annoying, my whole body looks and feels different already.

My joints ache with every movement and it even hurts to sit down because my skin feels tender to the touch if that makes sense.

I feel woozy and light headed but only for a few seconds and then think I've imagined it

When I eat even though I'm on stomach tablets I am rushing to the loo 20 mins later or I'm throwing up because of all the acid in my stomach.

I'm due to miss a treatment this week as I'm away and this was known about but I really don't know if I can go right now I don't know if I like myself enough to put myself through that.

I've started to keep my medication in a daily packs because there's so much of it, I've got a very long time just fobbed off the fact that I have Graves disease and said if it's just an overactive thyroid and I am really trying to come to terms with the fact that I have an autoimmune condition and I need to give myself grace, but today it is hard

Sorry pity party over.

If you listened thank you.

Burning rubbish is range

I have been living in my house for 6 years in a rural area of the north west (Donegal) and in that whole time my nextdoor neighbour has never once put out a bin. But she most definitely lights her range every single day, even on sweltering hot days and the smoke from that is bad enough that we can't open our windows at time but without fail every morning and evening she burns her rubbish in said range and it is unbearable some mornings you can hardly see with what she has burned. I have spoken to her and she said her son brings the rubbish to a farm he works on, I have shown her videos of the smoke and she said "I have to light the fire for water." I'm a blow in to this area but my husband has grandparents close by so I don't want to cause too much of a fuss. But when do I start causing a fuss or contract the council. It's driving me insane, I can't even hang clothes out to dry because they will stink of burnt rubbish, I could live if they smelt of turf just about but it's really wearing me down at the moment.

Thyroid eye disease

Hi all,

I was diagnosed with graves disease 4 years ago after 4 years of thyroid issues. I suffered A relapse in February after being mainly symptom free and well for 18 months, after a few months of eye issues I have just been diagnosed with TED last week and will have an MRI in the next couple of weeks and then start the high dose IV steroid treatment. I have slightly protruding eyes, puffy eye lids, light sensitivity, gritty/sandy/watery eyes, pressure in both eyes but more so in my right, constant light pain and headaches particularly on the right and more so when looking up, sight deteriorating and some double vision particularly on the right as well. I'm very nervous, unsure and emotional about what's happening. Any advice for what is in store for me in the next few weeks, I was bombarded with information in the hospital last week and over the past few days it seems to have all blurred into a muddle of words.

How are you funding college.

So I don't qualify for any grants and my parents have said they can afford to pay my fees, deposit and maybe a couple of hundred euros a month at the max. I have a part time job but am currently only getting maybe 24 hrs a week and with my insurance not getting to save much. Hopefully I will be able to get a job where I go to college to survive because I don't want to depend on my parents but how does everyone survive and pay their bills.

I've reached a new level of MEH

Couldn't do any study over the weekend and I feel completely unmotivated after last week, not that I was motivated much to begin with. But I just don't seem to care anymore and I feel fucked just don't know how I'm going to get the 500 I need. I think it really stated when I saw how many are doing the LC this year how are we meant to get into college with this amount of students all trying to get in as well and I know if 4 people who applied when they all did their LC over the past 3 years where their points will be better than what we will be getting.

Got up early to study and here I am on Reddit.
