Dating advice?

Most of my dating knowledge comes from reading Wodehouse. I just got my first match on Bumble, and I was wondering: how soon is it to find out their soundness on pigs? Should I make it my icebreaker, or wait until the first date?

She's not my first cousin or anything, so I'm not sure if the family will be frightfully keen. But if things does go well, when do we get engaged, around date number three? Does the Ickenham system still hold in the twenty-first century, or are girls likely to get a bit shirty if you "grab them by the wrist and waggle them about a bit"?

Success story in reverse — Mirtazapine

I just thought I should mention that I can track the start of my N24 problems in recent years to when I tapered off and stopped talking mirtazapine (Remeron), in the summer of 2023. I don't think it's really an option for me to go back on it right now because of my other meds (lisdexamfetamine, venlafaxine) or else I'd try it again, because my sleep cycle is free-running and life is unstable.

Mirtazapine is technically an antidepressant but it's also a strong hypnotic which made me fall asleep very reliably. I haven't worked since 2018, but you can see until 2023 I was pretty regular in my sleep cycle even without having to get up for work. It's since become completely ungovernable. Getting to sleep on a schedule seems to be the thing I can't do... getting up regularly is possible, but when I get less and less sleep every day, I eventually got a breaking point.

I'd warn people though that mirtazapine made me ravenously hungry before I fell asleep (which is why I finally quit it) and it's infamously very difficult to quit. Probably worth checking up on if you're interested.

Been meaning to post this for years

I happen to know the former is lacking in several of the essential vitamins, thanks to running into Freddie Threepwood.

I know what you're thinking — he's in America. But I think what happened was, he came back, don't-you-know.

Hinge: 6 days, 0 replies 0 likes

I'm 42m, not much experience dating but I have good social skills, I'm not bad looking, etc. I think most women who enjoy the kind, friendly autistic type would like me.

I set up a Hinge profile six days ago. I just thought, it would be really cool to meet someone for once, have a chat, maybe walk around the local park, make them smile.

I've been trying probably way too hard to improve my profile, and send targeted likes to the right people with thoughtful comments etc.

Just nothing, no replies, no likes. No signs that it's an interactive app and not a paper catalogue.

Six days of hyperfocus like it was this big puzzle I could solve It's turned from a fun project to a source of misery. I just keep thinking I'll come up with something that makes a difference.

Yeah I know I need to stop, and I know I probably won't, because some part of me thinks if I can't crack this, I'll be alone forever. And no I know there's lots of reasons that's not true, and the odds are against me and so on, but it feels like that regardless.

Can someone at least just sympathise and say they went through the same thing? I've never felt so alone as this week, spent trying not to be alone.
