Madhur Model being discontinued???

Just saw the latest episode, and Madhur said multiple times that it will probably be the last episode for Madhur Model. He alluded that it's due to the recent backlash on one of his old jokes. Man i am so so sad. This was one of the best (if not the best) comedy shows out there currently. I literally wait every week for a new episode to drop. I don't know why all the good shows are being scrapped in favour of more brain-rotted shows. Seeing all the past comedians come on the episode was just a reminder of how much effort Madhur has put in all these months.

I'm seriously hoping that this isn't true, or that Madhur finds a way to continue Madhur Model, and I hope the audience supports him more yaar. He's actually a really great comedian and one of the funniest ones in the current comedy circuit.

Just watched Maa Behen and this is what I thought

I just finished Maa Behen on netflix and I have some mixed thoughts. At first, I was super excited when the trailer came out. It looked phenomenal and felt like we would finally get a good comedy mystery. Plus, I must say Dharna is one of the few influencers who is genuinely funny and will make you laugh with her random little skits. Also, it finally felt like Tripti was back in her element.

However, the film lacked a lot in terms of screenplay. One of the few recent instances where the acting was actually good but the writing was bad (usually both are bad lol). Seriously, Madhuri acted well and was back in her playful element. It felt like we could FINALLY see at least a glimpse of old Tripti. Sure, she wasn't at the Qala or Bulbul level, but I mean, she couldn't act that seriously in this film either. But finally, she wasn't just a pretty bobblehead with no emotional depth unlike her recent releases. She was actually very funny and delightful to watch. Dharna nailed her role she was genuinely funny and it felt like you actually wanted to watch her - which is alot considering the debuts of majority of recent actors. Not much to comment on Ravi Kishan, only because he seldom lacks in his acting and we can expect that level of experience from him.

The premise is also great. A body that mother and daughter try and cover up while doging hilarious mishaps? Ravi Kishan as the hilariously quirky villain? What else is a recipie for success? Unfortunately, the plot was not explored well enough and the writing was plain old boring. They could have made it 100 times funnier with this premise seriously. Also, the character Maheshwari had no resolution. He was legit there for no rhyme or reason. He added absolutely nothing to the plot it was ridiculous. For the film being about social issues, he could have been used to, at the very least, show someone standing up for the girls and going against the norms.

Lastly, I will say the movie is decently funny. It has its moments and there are quite a few funny dialogues and scenes, although Madhuri is seldom part of them. Tripti actually held up quite well, in terms of her comedic timing and dialogue delivery, despite being up against the naturally funny Ravi Kishan and Dharna (who I feel has a bit better comedic timing and tone naturally). The social aspect of the movie also deserves commendation because it explored the character assassination, misogyny and shame culture by societal pressures quite well. I can't recall a film that has specifically delved into this in settings such as the normal family colony. They talked about it really well, actually. But again, the writing faltered because they could not tie in the comedy with the emotional and traumatic parts well. It ended up feeling very fragmented and did not flow well.

What are your thoughts?

So happy to see this subreddit still so active - my love letter to inuyasha

It warms my heart that people still watch and talk about inuyasha.

Inuyasha used to run on tv when I was a kid and it was the first experience I ever had of anything related to anime. I stumbled upon it by chance while flipping channels and decided to stay for a few minutes to see what was going on. I was hooked at how good and funny the characters were and how interesting the story was. I swear it was running episodes not in order or I kept skipping them since they ran twice a day and I was at school. Soon after I ended up switching countries and lost track of the show and didn’t even know it was called an anime.

I always remembered it though and when I entered high school, one girl in my class was super into anime and K-pop. I visually described the characters to her because even after all those years, I couldn’t forget inuyashas red robe and dog ears and kagomes green school uniform. My friend soon realised I was talking about inuyasha and I immediately searched it up. To my delight, it was on YouTube back then. Immediately after school, I plopped down to watch the episodes. I was once again hooked, and every day after school I watched a few episodes.

I loved inuyasha so much and it held such a special place in my heart that I often think about it despite all these years since high school and when I first saw it as a child. It is such a warm and light hearted anime, yet being so adept in handling emotional depth. Kikiyos character especially is so well layered and her death was so intense and raw despite being extremely simple. I recently discovered this subreddit, and I am so happy people still appreciate, watching and talk about inuyasha. I tried a bunch of anime’s over the year, but nothing ever compared to inuyasha for me tbh 😭

It’s the best anime in my opinion and I really hope more people discover this gem.

Indian OTT is on a downfall (a rant)

I consider myself an amateur cinephile and consume media and art films from all types of cinema from the world. However, without a doubt, Indian Cinema produces some of the finest filmmaking. It is seriously not recognised or appreciated enough. In the last few years of OTT boom, I have been relishing in the treasure trove of wonderful films and shows that have been coming out back to back. Prime especially excelled in this and I've watched almost every last show on there. Netflix was slower but when it hit the mark, it HIT (Sacred Games omg??)

However, I am noticing that in the last year or two, the quality of content has dropped so horrendously. Sure, there are a few good shows out on Netflix (Kohrra is great), but Prime is seriously lacking. I think other smaller platforms like Zee and Hotstar are actually doing much much better.

But regardless, why is this happening? Why is the only content being churned out and constantly thrown in your face shows like Desi Bling and The Royals and god knows what else. From the OTT's point of view, i do get it. They are at the end of the day a business and so operate on numbers.

But why in the world are us viewers chosing to constantly consume slop? I get wanting to turn your brain off once in a while by watching a dumb show. But why is it being consumed so gluttonously that amazing and artful shows like Kaala Paani and Black Warrant are being cancelled or stalled? No new ideas or shows are coming up either it's just constant lobotomizing brainrot like desi bling. Like that cannot be the only thing you guys chose to watch. There is no way a country that is historically so insanely rich with art and creativity, and the birthplace of exceptional auteurs like Satayjit Ray and Guru Dutt, has been reduced to brainrot slop. We need to make more concious decisions as viewers, learn to actually appreciate art and stop lobotomising ourselves seriously.

I want to buy perfumes on depop, but i'm wondering if most are fake?

I'm in Australia btw. I keep seeing posts for brand new Tom Ford and YSL perfumes that are all like 100-$150. They all say it's authentic and comes with a receipt. But there's no way someone would sell a brand new perfume that sells for $300-400 for only 100-150, even if it was a gift. Plus the sellers feel sketchy because they have multiple posts for luxury perfumes/items all brand new and cheap. I messaged the sellers and they said it is authentic and comes with a reciept. Idk man just feels sketchy. Has anyone bought luxury perfumes on depop before? What do you think?

Pretty much the title. I kinda fucked up my pre exam on accident and now need a 50% on the final to pass. How hard is this because I heard getting a raw mark of 50% on the final is next to impossible? What if I get 40%? Will it scale up?
