Hey Pack! We have some things to share and we wanted to do it properly.

First, the numbers. We went from under 20 members to over 2,000 in a week. We are sitting close to 100,000 views on this sub in five days. Five days. For context we thought hitting 300 visitors in a day was a record before all of this happened. You showed up and you showed up hard and we are genuinely so proud of the community that held it together while everything got progressively more locked down and chaotic around us. Thank you for that. Seriously.

What's new:

The wiki has been updated and it's worth a read even if you've been here since the beginning. We added and refined a lot including the full breakdown of what belongs here, a clearer section on what will get you temporarily or permanently removed from the Pack, and a new rule, "Keep It Koko and Keep It English", which covers off-topic posts, doom spiraling, exit announcements, hashtag-only posts, duplicate posts, and our translation policy for non-English content. If you haven't read the rules and the flair guide yet, now is the time. It genuinely makes our jobs harder when posts come in that don't follow them and right now we are already stretched thin. Help us help you.

On flairs:

We are releasing the Questions and Discussion flairs. We have been holding them back while the tourist wave was at its worst and we feel like the automod is strong enough now to handle it. Use them correctly. The flair guide is in the wiki and it is not long. Please read it.

On the queue:

New Pack members we see you and we are manually approving posts until you hit the karma threshold. Hang tight, you are not forgotten. We still have too many spam and tourist posts coming through for things to feel fully normal but we are getting there.

Which brings us to the most important thing we will say in this post: REPORT. USE THE REPORT BUTTON. Downvoting does nothing. Reporting gets it to us. If something feels off, if a post is spam, if someone is clearly not here for Koko, report it and let us handle it. You are our first line of defense and we need you.

We get it, every community handles things differently and we know not everyone has had a chance to read the rules yet. We consider those posts misguided good faith and we redirect them with love. This mod is very tired, upset, and feeling unable to process everything that's happened. Days ago, days, I created this sub and was happily making up vernacular, intro posts, rules, and flairs. Making the wiki and sub itself look as cool as Koko deserves, and then a funny thing happened.... 😭😭😭😭 This sub was bombarded in a way we were not prepared for. Our locas have been the coolest fucking babes in the game. The trolls aren't even worth getting into, and honestly? We're not losing sleep over them either. This Pack doesn't bend for bad faith, it never has. We have our fellow pack in different subs now that are built and prepared for what's happening right now at r/ValkoHQ and r/ValkoWidows and r/Valko 💛 I would really like to get back to the original spirit of the sub, which is celebration and gooning. I mean appreciating Koko. Will you cheer this mod up and tell me your favorite flair or part of the sub? I could really use some interaction like I originally envisioned. Logging in to fight Koko trolls every day at this rate was not on my bingo card when I created this sub. Not even a week into it.

Imagine our surprise getting ready to head to work for the day and seeing Koko was cancelled. What a ruff start let me tell you. You know what wasn't rough? You guys. Damn it you guys really showed up today and even though it was A LOT we're so fucking proud of you. You could've been like the fandom we know and rightfully judge so much but you weren't even close. Yall were holding space for each other, making action plans, making each other laugh and being what we hoped Koko fans would be like. We fucking love you locas, thank you for making this space excellent.

That being said, oh boy the folks who couldn't post to the main subs or subsequent spin offs arrived and we are now celebrating our first bans! Trolls aren't allowed here, even "Koko" trolls. If you spread rumors from social media, are racist or break any of the other rules we set there are consequences.

There's also vibes, I know it seems the players at large want to blame the CN girlies. I hear you, I disagree in this sense and need you to follow suit at least in anything you do in this sub: All CN girlies did not wish this, and we will not throw them all under the bus. China is not to be blamed for this bad behavior. Do that shit elsewhere please and thank you. What you can and should say (I'm kidding but not entirely) is that part of the fandom caused this. Those players caused this. Those people need to touch grass, I don't think anyone here disagrees. Especially because you know why I say that/those players? Cause we all know who we are talking about. Also cocoa beans, please read the freaking rules I wrote them! The locas posting under wild flairs and spreading SNS stuff had us laughing and crying. We understood what was a fuck up versus malicious but do us a solid and read the rules. The SNS sharing is not supposed to be allowed but this is war time so let us be clear what isn't: that fandoms troll posts or reactions. Rubbing salt in a wound OR getting up in arms about it can be your kink I don't judge but not in our household. If you post the devs emotional comments about losing their puppy? I'll hand you a tissue cause I'm crying and wanting to talk about it too. Don't know where the line is? Ask first. Modmail is open.

We shut down the flairs for now outside of 'cancelled my ass', 'pack made', 'Koko's memes', and 'mating season' because priorities.

We have adopted our sister subs strict automod which means if you're not an established emergency ration, your stuff is auto-removed. We will approve it if it meets community standards and leave it removed if not. We're not sure how long this period will last, it's not meant to punish anyone. There's too many randos trying to post some WILD stuff here and genuinely I can't stomach how disgusting they are being.

We are not going anywhere. I'm personally going to be a delulu king and think if Infold hears us howl loud and long enough they'll bring my man back. I didn't even get to pet him yet, this is bullshit!

THE TIMELINE — what actually happened, in order

June 22, 2026 — Valko officially announced as the sixth Love Interest, the first new addition since Caleb and Sylus.

June 28, 2026 — Papergames holds a livestream for Version 6.0, giving players a fuller in-game look at Valko ahead of his planned July 9 release.

Late June 2026 — Backlash intensifies, primarily from the Chinese player base on Weibo, citing concerns over his design and resources being pulled from the five existing Love Interests. Protest activity outside Papergames' headquarters in China escalates, with curse banners, items associated with cleansing rituals, funeral flowers, and cow dung reportedly left in the company's delivery lockers (source: GosuGamers, June 30, 2026). GosuGamers

June 30, 2026 — Papergames posts an official apology letter. Valko's launch and all further development are cancelled, and the studio confirms no additional Love Interests will be added going forward. Compensation offered: rewards originally tied to Valko's launch event sent free to all players, plus 30 days of login rewards.

That's where we are. Now let's talk about what we do about it.

WE ARE NOT THEM

I need to say this plainly before anything else, because it matters: we are protesting, we are not punishing. What got Valko killed in the first place was a campaign that crossed into actual harassment against real people. We are not doing that, full stop. If anyone wants to cook up something ugly, take it elsewhere, comment "Evil masterplan" in my DMs and as far as this sub is concerned, we have no idea what you're talking about. I'm not interested in giving the press or Infold a single inch to paint global fans with the same brush as the people who sent cow dung to a corporate office (source: GosuGamers, June 30, 2026). We are better than that, and we're going to prove it by being effective without being cruel.

THE OPTIONS — broad spectrum, your call, discuss below

I'm laying these out honestly, including the parts that aren't guaranteed to work, because I'd rather you make an informed choice than a hopeful one.

1. Real, specific feedback through the in-game form, official Discord, and customer support. Low risk, low effort, and specifics get read while spam gets deleted.

2. Honest, detailed reviews instead of blank one-stars. Survives moderation, actually gets read by people deciding whether to install.

3. Refund requests through Apple or Google. Full honesty here: there's nothing Valko-specific currently for sale to point to, so this one's murky and I genuinely don't know how strong a claim it would be without a direct purchase tied to him. If you spent on anything you can clearly argue was in preparation for his banner, it might be worth trying, but I'm not going to oversell this as a guaranteed lever.

4. A spending freeze. Also full honesty: CN players have reportedly already been pulling spending over this exact issue and it doesn't seem to have moved Infold on the bigger picture, so I genuinely don't know if money is the lever people think it is here. Might be worth doing anyway on principle. Might not change anything. I'd rather tell you that upfront than promise it'll work.

5. Press and public pressure through coordinated social posts, since gaming outlets are already covering this within hours of the announcement.

6. Just disengaging quietly is also a legitimate option some of you might land on, and I'm not going to pretend that's not on the table too.

Drop your take in the comments. Which of these you're actually willing to do, which you think is a waste of time, and why. This is a discussion, not a directive. Once we get a sense of where the Pack stands, I'll put together the concrete how-to for whichever options have real support.

THE HOW-TO, FOR WHEN WE'RE READY

For anyone who wants to act now while we talk it out, here's the toolkit:

"I'm writing as a global player to formally object to the cancellation of Valko and the decision to add no further Love Interests to Love and Deepspace. Valko was officially announced and given a full trailer and livestream showcase on June 28, with a confirmed release date of July 9. Players prepared financially and emotionally for his launch based on that announcement. Less than a week later, his entire development was cancelled, with no offer to revisit the decision for the global audience that was excited for him. I'm asking the development team to reconsider a path that doesn't end with full cancellation, whether that's a delay, a global-only release, or a community vote, rather than erasing him completely."
