Question for colorists who have (or still) do DIs for movies released via film prints

What 2383 (and previously other stocks) LUT/transform are you (or were you) grading under?

Are you using a stock software LUT? Do you make your own? Do the labs that do the prints have proprietary LUTs that account for their own printing processes and machinery?

Not relevant to anything I'm working on, just really curious.

Anyone have insight on digital releases of photochemical finishes?

Recently saw a 70mm print of The Odyssey, and had a question: when a photochemically finished film like The Odyssey is released these days in a digital format, what's the process?

Is a colorist grading a scan of the negative to match as closely as possible what the printed film looks like? Or are they printing the film, then scanning the print and tweaking from there? I imagine the latter would require some sort of transform or LUT to neutralize any color issues introduced by the scanner, and bring the file into the correct color space, but that's just a guess.

Nothing I imagine I'll be doing anytime, but am very curious. Thanks!

How to unfold this vintage Nasco Meter stick?

Hi all, my mom ended up with this vintage meter stick and neither of us can figure out how to unfold it. There appear to be some fasteners between the folded lengths of wood but I can’t figure out how to undo them. Please see attached photos. Any insight is greatly appreciated. Thx in advance!

Fusion question: what am I missing?

Can someone explain why I'm not seeing anything on my screen? I'm sure I'm missing something obvious, but I'm not as well practiced in Fusion as I am in the rest of Resolve. Thanks for your time!

I'm working with someone who's insistent on sending Apple ProRes 422 exports from FCP for color grading (in Resolve), as they don't want to bother with sending hard drives and XML files.

I've downloaded FCP to try and understand how color is managed in it, and as far as I can tell, files can only be delivered in Rec.709 or in one of three Rec.2020 color spaces.

I'm not very familiar with FCP and find it to be one of the more... perplexing NLEs, so if anyone out there is aware of a means by which to override FCP's color space export settings, please share. Thanks!

(for reference, the original files are typically shot in S.Log3, and will be delivered by me in Rec.709)

Anyone know how to rotate the aspect ratio of a default crop in the new photo page on Resolve 21? For example, I want to use the 2:3 aspect ratio in horizontal orientation (or 3:2), or the 4:3 as 3:4. Thanks in advance!
