Been on the app for 3 yrs

I saw several people last week that i haven’t seen in 15 years due to a family wedding.

Had several compliments that “you look good, great, etc”

Im 55yrs old.

Also had a 15 year old tell me that he thought i was 45 over the weekend.

Consistency is the key

The app gives me that little nudge to get to the gym to not miss a workout

Enshittification of everything

Was listening to DOAC today and Prof Scott G was on. They talked about a lot of different topics but this quote really caught my attention.

“The bottom 99% of Western societies are essentially being optimized and monetized to make the life of the 1% just unbelievable.”

He was talking about the 1% having a whole different world than us commoners. Concierge Doctors. Several vacation homes. Bunker/compounds in New Zealand. Private planes etc.

Everything is monetized to the point to extract the max amount possible from each of us. Quality and quantity keep shrinking

But the CEOs keep getting more wealthy to the point of absurdity.

MAGA can't comprehend that I'm not proud to fly the flag

this convo periodically comes up with maga associates.... they deny that MAGA and Trump have effectively "stolen" the flag from the rest of us. I used to have some level of pride for our country - especially while growing up and I didn't know about all the dirty secrets and skeletons in our country's closet.

But these days - flying the flag for 4th of July is even suspect. My kids don't want me to put it up else people might thing we are Trump supporters.

Anyone else having these types of convos?

I have 4.93 rating and try to be very respectful to drivers. I think probably my only flaw is sometimes I’m not always there right when the driver arrives as I live in high level of apartment and the main pick up location is a good 4-5 min walk from my place.

I’m what you would consider to be a “rule follower” for the most part and so is my daughter. People pleaser personalities.

Anyway I invited my 18y daughter to meet me for concert the other night (she lives with her mom). I offered to pay for her uber- it’s on her account. I just Venmo her after.

Anyway, when we get to the concert and sit down she’s checking her phone and gets email from uber

- that she is in danger of losing use of uber due to low rating. 4.32. (!!! WTF?).

I couldn’t believe it as she is a very kind and respectful kid. The kind that all the other parents of her friends would say how great she is. How pleasant & respectful she is etc.

I couldn’t imagine her having such a low rating. I asked her if she tips as I taught her. She said that she has a set tip for 7% for every ride so that she doesn’t forget.

I asked her if she is the one getting Ubers when she goes out with friends. She said she usually is the one. That must be a big part of the reason her rating is so bad…Her friends are loud and obnoxious and I’m sure that is what is going on.

She said going forward she’s going to tell other friends to request and she’ll Venmo them back instead. Hoping this helps.

Anything else you would recommend? TIA!
