Interlock Removal (Tarrant County, TX)

I was told that I am done this Wednesday (8/19) and will be eligible for interlock removal. I haven’t been able to get a hold of my PO for clarification on the removal process. My goal is to get it removed as soon as possible, but I can’t tell if end of this week is realistic. What is y’all’s experience with this process? Any advice on how to secure that removal paperwork as quickly as possible?

What to do Between Training Programs?

I’m finishing my 5K training program this weekend, and have 2 weeks until I need to start my 10K training program for a race in the fall. What runs do y’all do between training programs?

361 Kairos 3

I walked into my local running store to grab a pair of Ghost 17’s, ended up walking out with the 361 Kairos 3 instead. I had never worn them before, but after a few runs, I found that my persistent lower calf issues seemed to go away and my running form felt way more comfortable. For context, I was running in Hoka Clifton 8’s. The same store had a massive sidewalk sale, so I went back to grab the Ghosts for cheap. Did 3 runs in them and felt immense lower calf pain again, even stopping 2 of the runs early to walk back. Back to the Kairos yesterday and I went back to feeling great.

Is this all a coincidence? I’m running the NRC 5K program with all 5 runs a week (1 long, 2 speed, 2 recovery), so I thought the pain could be overuse. But then the pain was substantially less with the Kairos in the longest run of the program so far!

I ask all this because the same store is having a 4th of July sale and the Kairos are pretty cheap. I can’t find them online on the 361 site which makes me worried they are discontinuing them, and 3rd party sites have them for 130+. Im debating buying a back up pair as 1) my runs feel great in them and 2) I can’t find them online for a reasonable price. I’ll need another pair eventually and I would hate for them to be impossible to find by then!

With all that out of the way, has anyone had experience in these shoes long term? Given the lower calf pain situation, should I just go ahead a grab a back up pair?

Thanks!
