Wondering about Alyssa Nobriga's ICM Certification?

By far the most comments and DMs I get on reddit are questions about Alyssa Nobriga's ICM program. Instead of typing up the same responses again...and again...and again, I thought I'd make a post of my experience that I can direct people to.

Let's make this more fun...If you've done ICM drop a comment of your experience. If you completed a different coaching certification, I'd love to hear how it went for you (and if it went well, maybe direct people there who ICM isn't a fit for...and if it went poorly, we all want to know!). If you've been wondering about ICM (even if it's years after this post was written) drop a comment with your question or letting me know if this was or wasn't helpful :)

My ICM story...I was a member of the 2023 cohort. I decided to get a certification in lifecoaching after finishing my MA Philosophy degree. I really wanted to help people live 'the good life' and I realized humans can't just think their way there! I struggled with deciding if I needed to get another degree in psychology, or spiritual formation, and ultimately landed on ICM.

I was drawn to ICM because Alyssa teaches tools outside of thinking and behavioral changes. She goes into embodied, emotional, and unconscious changes as well. I, being a thinker, can have the tendency to get too caught up in learning and researching and not actually *doing* the thing. ICM is set up so that you have to practice the skills as you're learning them.

Alyssa has been super thoughtful in designing the program for all kinds of learning styles. Its the best online course structure that I've participated in. Additionally, the last 1/3 of the program is all about building your business. You have to be in-action working with clients (again, great for me) it forces you to get experience in building your business while being in a supportive network to troubleshoot any issues that come up.

The price seems worthwhile to me...compared to other coaching certifications it honestly seems underpriced. Compared with a degree from an institution, it seems comparable or, honestly underpriced. I signed in August of 2022, and I think it was an 11k investment on a payment plan.

Do I have any regrets or complaints? The week we spent on manifesting was a little too 'woo' for me. Honestly, I really don't have too many complaints. I feel like I got exactly what was advertised.

Does everyone launch a successful coaching business? No. My goal was only to work part-time, and I have been able to successfully source clients whenever I wanted to in order to meet that goal. The curriculum itself is a coaching container for you, even while you're learning. There are weekly 'peer practices' where you get coached by a peer, then coach a peer. Some people get into the program and realize there's growth and healing that needs to happen before they can launch a business. Other's have life changes (like pregnancies, or illnesses, or family complications) that limit their change their priorities from building a business, but the people I know in those situations were all so very grateful they experienced the program for their own growth.

Alyssa encourages re-enrolling, some people do and use it at their personal coaching container to level-up (one woman who saw a ton of success in my cohort chose to re-enroll specifically because it was working so well as her personal coaching container.)

All my best friends have been INFPS

I'm 35F INTP and I married an ENTJ...but my best friends since college have consistently been INFPs (3 girls, 1 dude)...and one INFJ (also a dude). I don't know if I could be married to a 'feeler' but I find them such strange little individuals and I think my open-mindedness and curiosity lets them share the parts of their innerworld and thought life that they've never told anyone else before. (because they have all said...'I've never told anyone this before')

What MBTI are your best friends? Why do you think your friendship works?

nb--I haven't met too many other INTPs in the wild, definitely not any other INTP moms. I vibe with INTJs and have some good INTJ friends...but they were male and (also) interested in me romantically and I was not inot them like that. I also vibe with ENFPs and ENTJs.

Happy Birthday Harmonica

Just saw someone make this banner on fb today. I guess Cheyenne’s mom was just a few years before her time…

Opening Credits Words

Okay, I know the opening credits music doesn’t have words…but my brain has created a little jingle that I now hear whenever it plays.

It started because the last three notes sound like ‘superstore’ (here, imagine me singing the word to the last three notes)

Anyway, the whole little title song (in my brain) goes: 🎶 everything that you could need is at your local superstore 🎶

Ranking my favorite characters

Just watched all 6 seasons of Superstore and decided to rank the characters based on how I feel about them. Most enjoyable fill me with warm and fuzzies upon remembering, while least enjoyable makes me wrinkle my nose and recoil.

Most enjoyable:
Would I want to be friends with all of these people? No. Did I greatly enjoy their character in the show? Yes.

Jonah - love me a pie in the sky dreamer. The stars. The stammers. The voices and bits. The blind pretension.

Sandra - the meekness coupled with the badass audacity. Jerry. So unhinged and perfect. Stanning Amy and Jonah.

Dina - never knowing what she was going to say. Her blunt, frankness. The way she owns her sexuality despite being so

Marcus - he’s like a golden retriever. So dumb but just desperately wants to be liked. Plus the warehouse guys really look up to him.

Cheyenne - her character arch. She grew on me over the seasons. Plus she had crazy stories.

Myrtle - who could hate Myrtle? Sweet little old (racist) lady who’s bad at her job but making the most money

Brett - goes without saying

Somewhat annoying:
Sometimes great, sometimes not.

Garrett - this surprised that Garrett landed here, but he’s kinda just mean. And he puts up this cool and funny front but…he’s just mean in a not funny way/

Glenn - Glenn just becomes more and more of a big man baby throughout the season. Half the time he’s hilarious, half the time it’s too cringe.

The most annoying:
It’s hard for me to think of a scene I like with these characters

Amy - girlie has no redeeming qualities. She’s a stick in the mud and lies way too much. Just makes so many poor decisions: like why didn’t she just order out some food for the golden globes, why did she spy on her friends when she was manager, why did she sell out to corporate, why did she raise a kid with Jonah and then be unprepared for commitment?

Mateo - I can’t think of one scene where I enjoyed his character. From the first day, trying to out-perform Jonah, to the catty/snark, dating Jeff???? to beefing with Cheyenne when she was floor supervisor!! Insufferable. Drop your favorite Mateo moments to help redeem this character. There must be something.

Unremarkable:
I don’t feel too strongly any which way about these characters

Justine - mostly funny
Sayid - confusing
Carol - just makes me uncomfortable
Kelly - more annoying than not
Bo - 🔊🔊🔊 great
Jerry - perfect
Jeff - my favorite Jeff scene is when he is holding harmonica and telling Mateo that he hates him
Adam - oddly annoying
Tate - wonder what happened to him
Janet - pretty great
