what episode do you always skip on rewatches?

every time i rewatch superstore there are a few episodes i know i’m probably going to skip because the secondhand embarrassment is just too much. the main one for me is the quinceanera episode. i know a lot of people love it because it’s uncomfortable in a funny way, but watching jonah try to fit in while making everything worse physically hurts me every single time.

another one i sometimes skip is the viral video episode because the entire thing spirals so hard that it stresses me out more than it makes me laugh. i think the show was really good at making situations feel realistic, but sometimes they nailed the awkwardness too well.

that being said, even the episodes i skip still have good moments and funny lines. i honestly think that’s part of why the show holds up so well overall. even weaker episodes still feel connected to the characters instead of just random sitcom plots. curious what episodes other people usually avoid on rewatches?

Unpopular/popular superstore opinions

What’s an opinion you feel like some people will disagree with you? Or maybe one that people will agree?

did anyone actually like carol as a character?

hi. not talking about whether she's a good person obviously because she's completely unhinged, but i mean as a character on the show. sometimes she was so over the top that it worked for me and other times i just wanted her scenes to end. curious where people stand on her now?

Working in retail during COVID-19

I’m watching the show for the first time, and now I’ve reached the pandemic episodes. It honestly brought me right back to when I was working retail in 2020–2021. Some scenes might seem exaggerated, but it really was like that. People refusing to follow safety rules, making a mess in the store… I worked in a clothing store, and when the fitting rooms were closed, people would literally start getting undressed in the middle of the store.

Working in retail is already hard, but during Covid it was on another level. It required endless patience, emotional energy, and dealing with stress almost every single day.

So honestly, respect to everyone who worked customer service and retail during that time and somehow made it through 💪🏻

Found a cute Valentine's Day Parallel

Found a very cute parallel on my 3rd rewatch. In Season 2 E14 "Valentine's Day" (omg writing this, I just noticed 2-14 is essentially Valentine's Day haha), Amy and Jonah are throwing away the valentine's decorations and Amy says "Ugh, coconut" as they eat some chocolates. In Season 5 E15 "Cereal Bar" Jonah gets Amy a half eaten box of chocolates for Valentine's Day and says the dialogue in the picture.

Bobbie Sue

Just in case you were wondering, the name "Bobbie Sue" was said 25 times in this episode.

Colton Dunn and “Widow's Bay”

For those of you who might have missed it: Colton Dunn (Garrett from “Superstore,” of course) is a writer and supervising producer for Apple TV's new show “Widow's Bay.” He wrote episode five, which just aired. The show is fantastic. Funny AND scary.

Garrett to Dina

What episode and season does Garrett tell Dina “you’ve got a nice voice” the scene has been bugging in my head for some time but I can’t find where it’s from. Anyone know?

I think it was thoughtful

I think the gift from jerusha to Dina was thoughtful, and no I don't want anybody to gift me something like this, but I'm saying that cause Dina had a soft side for birds, i don't know why she denied it

Season 4 ruins Amy and Jona’s character

Firstly, why did they make her suddenly get pregnant with her ex’s baby, so basically she learnt nothing from her experience with him. They could have just said it was Jonah’s baby. Then the beginning of season 4 is awful. Jonah and Amy don’t discuss the implications of the baby, Jona is left out of pregnancy scene at the end and they don’t talk about that. Then when Amy goes back to work Jonah doesn’t seem to care about her anymore. Meanwhile, all the other characters at the work don’t care about Amy suffering from post pregnancy, meanwhile they made a huge deal about Cheyanne in the first season. It’s all such character assassination.

Just keeping it in season 1…. What is your favorite episode and least favorite episode?

I actually like the first episode. Good intro to most of the characters and their personalities.

I dislike episode 3, called Shots and Salsa. It’s not offensive or anything. Just not all that entertaining.

Sayid

I feel crazy or over critical, but Sayid bugs me. His character feels like a random addition that is being pushed into a "stand-out" but is bland and unlikable to me.

Elias speaks!

Having heard Office ladies podcast, I understand why some (most in Superstore) side characters are non-speaking roles. Always wondered why Bret, Elias, Sarah are non-speaking despite being recurring characters across multiple episodes. And then on a rewatch in the Bel-Ridge steps competition episode, saw Elias randomly say a line (also Bret when he looks at the Tornado) - I wonder what adjustments were needed to the contract for these easter eggs.
