Radio Marti right next door to KBS World Radio on
9655 kHz
French service
transmitter at Ascension Island
250 kw
Radio Marti was swamping KBS
What works is the SAM mode or Synchronous AM mode very much like the Sony 2010 or Eton E1 ...
Along with NR the stations are pulled right out of the "grass" or noise of the band ... The scope shows the grass ... Also a quick press of the A button gives the toggling of the speaker or headphones or both ... I use Blue Tooth with speaker off ... A quick press of the # button toggles between the volume or tuning of the VFO /Volume knob so one does not have to push it in! Neat!!
More to follow .... Poikaa
Wow! Fast ... I thought it would be June before I get it! Must have stock in the US! Ordered on May 7th es it arrived May 14th!
I've been playing with it since yesterday afternoon es charged it up over night es sat right by Lake Superior with a wire antenna stuck in the trees ...
Amazing little receiver as it's smaller than the Tecsun PL880 ... Quite a few menus to go through but easy to do so... I've been a HAM fer 38 years now es have all sorts of gear but still an SWL at heart! This receiver is a true communication receiver but simple enough for a beginner ...
Sound is great but not much on the whip... I had mine on a simple wire of about 20 feet of speaker twin lead split army 10 foot ... I lowered the dB level on the scope to -5 level as it lowers the scope a bit es then weak signals can be found ... Right on frequency where ever I go ... All modes available ... AM, FM, USB, LSB, CW, DSB, SAM es NFM .... Of course WFM on the FM band but one can get USB there also! WFM shows only when you are on the FM band ... Audio is very good and NR Noise Reduction works well !
I had the Icom 7300 so I'm very familiar with a scope so for me this one is simpler but very useful ... You can set the Smeter to dB readout or off ... Good for checking antennas ... Speaking of antennas ... You are way better off with a long wire or amplified loop ... The whip is not much ... But it works! Ergonomics are geared for a newbie or well seasoned operator ! I do wish for a separate volume knob but one can get used to it...
Case has a soft feel but not like those others like the Eton E1 that melted when aged ... Some cheap Grundigs also suffered from "sticky" cabinets ... The build is solid but I will not drop mine!
As I go along I'll list more about the rig ....
I'm still learning the receiver so I will post more!

After watching several videos and reading reviews I cut loose and ordered a 880 .... I was I'm pressed by the audio emanf the bandwidth abilities ... Not all the impressed with the scope as I had an Icom 7300 ... So I know what to expect but the display is far simpler with no waterfall ...
Lots of shielding inside so digital noise is low ... Also ability to turn off display .... I'll review it soon as it comes ....
