Copied this on my newly acquired DX-398 this evening. Will try to post a video. Using my longwire in the attic. Located in Indiana.
I am over the moon. I found a DX-398 at a garage sale today, working, battery compartment looks brand new. The guy said they had not used it in maybe 15 years, it was stored in the 4 drawer filing cabinet. He wanted $50 all I had was $30 and they sold it to me. It has the book, the faux leather carry case, and looks 8 of 10 with a few small scratches on the back. I will connect it to my shortwave antenna (longwire in the attic) tonight and see how it shakes out. This model was sold at Radio Shack and I believe it is made by Sangean and is a clone of the ATS-909 maybe.
I have really enjoyed the Mlite 880 as I think if it as a Communications Reciever ... It's reception is very good but the span from 25 mHz to 27 mHz is rather low in signal es the blank area from 30 mHz to 64 mHz ... Other than that it's a great reciever ... !!
Then late June it stopped charging the battery es the 21700 li-on started to go dead .... The little red lightening indicated was not coming on ... I have some 18650 li-ons but they worked but poor fit es they would not show a charge ... Si I ordered a charger and 21700 battery ...
At this time I wrote elecevolve and they said to ship the radio to them ... Well $75 to do that es they said they would reimburse me but???
The charger came in so did the battery but the radio will not charge so the radio works fine but no charge ... There is an onboard chip that handles the charging ... I figure it maybe the culprit 4065 li-on controller ... The li-on that came with the radio will not charge so it died es maybe took out the li-on control chip died es caused the battery to die or the battery killed the charge circuit...

Of all the signals I've received since I got into this hobby, this might be the strangest one.
Before posting this, I listened to it for quite a while as best I could because the signal was barely audible. I also wanted to make sure I had the right source.
It was indeed a Volmet, since I could hear weather reports.
It was easy to figure out where it was coming from, but I was surprised that it reached this far, since it’s a VHF transmission intended for the airport area.
I looked up a lot of information about that frequency, and everything points to the same place. At first, I found some incorrect information and mistakenly marked it as "Barcelona WX" in Listen Info plugin (as you can see in the video), but I've already corrected it.
Lately, I've been testing and listening at higher frequencies, and I've come across some interesting things. I've also tried DSDPlus and other tools.
However, I think it's best not to post certain things due to security concerns and local regulations. At least here in my country, that issue isn't clear, but it's better to avoid problems.
But if I receive public services from other countries, I post them.

I'm not an FM DXer, so I'm hoping someone here can help explain what I experienced.
On Friday, July 17, 2026, between Banff and Lake Louise, Alberta, I was driving my completely stock 2015 Toyota Sienna when the FM band suddenly came alive.
For roughly 30 to 40 minutes, I was absolutely floored. It seemed like almost every turn of the dial revealed another station, many of them coming in crystal clear for a minute or two before fading away and being replaced by another. I had no idea this was even possible and honestly thought my radio had glitched. Then I started seeing Nebraska Public Media on the display while driving through the Canadian Rockies. That's when I started taking photos because I couldn't believe what I was seeing.

Along the way I also tuned across 90.5, 90.9, 91.1, 91.3, 93.9, 95.3, 97.1, 101.1, and 102.7, with many of them strong enough for the radio to decode RDS.
After getting home, I learned about tropospheric ducting, which seems like the most likely explanation. The best way I can describe it is like a mirage for radio waves, where layers of warm and cool air in the atmosphere guide FM signals for extraordinary distances.
