Buying first apartment in De Pijp without knowing the area
My partner and I are currently in the process of buying our first apartment in Amsterdam. We currently live in Oud-West, which we love. Ideally, we want to live in a neighborhood which has similar possibilities in terms of going out and buying stuff (think Kinkerstraat, JP Heijestraat). Although, we would also like to live in a relatively quiet street.
We came across a nice property in the area which you can see highlighted. We really liked the flat so we are ready to make an offer but we are not that familiar with the neighborhood. What makes it tricky is that we are on holiday until the bidding deadline, so we have no opportunity to explore for ourselves. 2 questions I'd like you to weigh in:
- How is (this area of) De Pijp compared to Oud-West near JP Heijestraat?
- In general, is it crazy to potentially make such a decision, while not knowing the area?
